Had my first OB/Peri/MFM appointment today!
I love love love Dr. Klein! He is hysterically funny and he made me so comfortable. He took the time to answer all of my questions and said my babies are perfect
I am so excited! And relieved......... I am scheduled for a visit every 2 weeks.

Re: Had my first OB/Peri/MFM appointment today!
Awesome! Now, were you told you needed a peri/mfm or are you going to him b/c of twins? are appts every two weeks standard w/him?
I'm thinking of switching b/c my "high risk" obs are very laid back. I asked them to check my cervix more frequently after reading a thread on the multiples board & was told it's too early & doing that is "old-fashioned."
They're letting me go from 12-20 weeks w/no cervix check. This is not ok w/me. When I express concerns, I feel I'm dismissed (by one partic dr who I've had 2x in a row).

Re: Had my first OB/Peri/MFM appointment today!
Well, to answer your question, the MFM is a little of both for me. I don't mind having a little hand-holding or extra special treatment, and I am not embarassed to say it. As a matter of fact, after being so closely monitored for IVF, I wanted to be as closely monitored during my pregnancy.
However, multiples alone and age do not make one high risk, and they almost didn't send me to a high risk peri. When I reminded them I have MS, they said "oh yes you should go to a peri then....." Most women with MS get better when pregnant, but you never know what types of problems could arise, and he said although I seem totally fine, he preferred to see me every 2 weeks. I'm grateful for this.

Oh I feel exactly the same way! After all we've invested in blood, sweat, tears, time & money just to *get* (& stay) pregnant!

Ugh, it's so disturbing when we have to remind our drs of major factors like this! I know they have a lot going on, but please! We really have to be our own advocates.
