Had oral surgery...How long would you wait before going back to the gym??
I had oral surgery Monday afternoon; It was for crown lengthening (My gums and bone were basically covering too much of my tooth so they had to remove tissue and bone; I have stitches). Do you think today is too soon to go back to the gym??? I'm frustrated because I haven't been there in a week and feel disgusting, especially because it's right after the holidays!!! I feel better health wise, I'm not quite 100%. I was told in the instructions to avoid exercise the rest of the day after surgery and yesterday. Help; what would you do?!?!

It would all depend on how you feel. I had surgery in the fall and they told me its more about the anethesia (sp?) more than anything. That's why they say no activity for 24 hrs.
But if you feel like you could workout I say try it but take it easy the first day and see how you feel.

Re: Had oral surgery...How long would you wait before going back to the gym??
I recently went through a tissue transplant. The first time they told me no running within 48 hours. The chances of it not taking were 50/50, so not sure if the running contributed, but I had to go back and have it done again and he told me no running for 2 weeks, so the blood didn't pump into the mouth. This procedure has been much more successful.
