Hair Gloss Questions - Need Help

Okay, so I got my hair color and highlighed the last weekend of September.

I got a redidsh brown with redish highlights.

When I was doing research I read this:

'A good trick to maintain your color is to go back to the salon and get a gloss in between color treatments. Since you probably darkened your hair for fall/winter, darker color tends to wash out within 3 weeks. The gloss will add color and vibrancy to your hair and also add shine.'

Below is webpage:

Has anyone done this?

Has anyone done this at home to save $$$?

Re: Hair Gloss Questions - Need Help

T,
I think you should do the John Frieda glaze in amber to maple.

Are you ready to have the shine of your life? Good, because your dull days are over. Introducing an entirely new innovation in hair care, Luminous Color Glaze™ from the experts at John Frieda® Professional Hair Care. Available in the three signature John Frieda® Professional Hair Care customized hair color families – Sheer Blonde®, Brilliant Brunette®, Radiant Red®, Luminous Color Glaze™ marks the first time that glazing is available as an at-home treatment. Now you can create newfound vibrancy and shine, a hint of captivating color, and manageable, luxurious texture you normally get from a salon, right in your own shower. Simply shampoo, condition and then… glaze.

The professionals at John Frieda® are renown for introducing salon inspired, innovative “problem/solution” hair care collections. The company was the first to market a silicone serum to prescriptively tame frizz, pioneered the concept of personalized shade care for blondes, brunettes and redheads, and is once again defining a category with the introduction of salon glazing for the mass market.

Think of Luminous Color Glaze™ as a cosmetic for your hair. Just as your favorite lip gloss adds a boost of shine and sheer color to your lips, Luminous Color Glaze™ does the same, reviving your hair color, via a non-damaging patented Color Illuminating Technology™, which imparts a hint of shine and improved texture after the first use and offers gradual color results upon each additional use. Like your favorite nail polish, which adds fresh color and glossy texture to your nails, Luminous Color Glaze™ imparts a stunning shine and re-texturizes each strand in just three minutes.

John Frieda® Luminous Color Glaze™ offers the benefits of a salon glaze right in the shower that can be used on both color treated and natural hair. Whether you’re blonde, brunette or red, now there are six shades of beautiful:

• Blondes: Refresh and perfect your blonde with a burst of shimmering color and shine as you re-texturize and add oomph to lifeless hair. Luminous Color Glaze™ is available in two blonde shades: Platinum to Champagne and Honey to Caramel.

• Brunettes: Reawaken the tone and texture of lackluster, limp brunette hair with a shot of dazzling brown color and multi-dimensional shine. Luminous Color Glaze™ is available in two brunette shades: Amber to Maple and Chestnut to Espresso.

• Redheads: Recharge that faded red and liven up tone with a dose of fiery red color and blazing shine that also imparts a burst of bounce to hair’s texture. Luminous Color Glaze™ is available in two red shades: for deeper, richer reds and reds that are brighter and more vivid.

Whether you regularly get a single process or highlights, or don’t color your hair at all, Luminous Color Glaze™ allows you to maintain the stunning shine, color and texture that, until now, only came after a trip to the salon. “My clients always ask me how they can get their hair to look and feel the way it does after a salon glaze,” says Sharon Dorram-Krause, John Frieda® Creative Consultant, “Finally, there is a product that gives hair that exact same color boost, shine and finish that you can get at my salon, but allows consumers to apply it so easily themselves, right in their own shower.”

To use, simply remember the rule of three: Three minutes, three times a week, for three stunning results: a gorgeous glossy finish, a hint of color and soft, supple strands. Simply apply in the shower to wet hair after shampooing and conditioning and then rinse. For best results, use with the John Frieda® Customized Care Collection - Sheer Blonde®, Brilliant Brunette® or Radiant Red - that corresponds to your hair color.

John Frieda® Luminous Color Glaze™ retails for $9.99, and is available at mass-market retailers nationwide or by calling 1-800-521-3189 for a store near you.

No - never. they usually add a gloss when I get it done. I have never gotten one in between and from what I have heard, they are more effective if you get them at the same time as your color.

I used a Natural Instincts clear one once and it did not do anything at all.

I would not used a tinted glaze. You never know how it will affect your current color. I would call and ask the salon to see what they say to be on the safe side.

Sebastian sells colored and clear gloss online. It's called colorshine. I love it and do it myself at home.

Here's the link to read about it...

I get a gloss after I get lo lites in the winter - all the same day

I did get a gloss once after just a regular haircut but I think it didn't look any different after the first day

I have it done at the salon

I think it is maybe 30-40 bucks - although I am not positive

Re: Hair Gloss Questions - Need Help

I used the John Frieda Glaze in amber to maple and was really happy with the slight boost it added to my hair color. It seemed shinier too.

I had some bad highlights at the time and I was trying to cover up the damage. I was using the glaze about every 3 days.

I recently went to a new salon and told the colorist I was using the JF Glaze and she told me to stop because it dries out your hair.

I stopped using the glaze at home, and I see a definite difference in my hair. It's def. not as dry and frazzled as it was when I was using the glaze.

So initially you might be happy with the at home glaze products, but in the long run it might do more harm then good.

Why were you doing it every three days?

I was just going to do it once to spruce up my color.
