Hannah has been vomiting since Friday..Vent! (long)

Since friday she has not kept most of her bottles down. she will drink a few ounces then a few minutes will pass and while holding her you can hear the rumblings in her tummy and then WHAM! and i am not talking a little spit up. its projectile, sour, yellowish and vile. funny thing is she is in a good mood for the most part.

i called the ped and we thought it was a 12-24 hr bug so they had us use pedialyte and slowing introducing the formula back into her system. well, she did great on sunday. not one episode. until we get to 100% formula and then it came out not once, not twice but three times.

today she was doing great. until her 1245 bottle. again projectile. the whole bottle had to have come up. and then it happened again at 315. so i called the ped and they had us come in.

she weighed 11 14 on november 15 at the gastro. today she measured 11 15 at the regular doc. i know scales differ. but i know she has lost a few ounces.

we are now just trying to get in 2oz at a time (1/4 pedialyte and 3/4 form) every 2 hrs or so. our goal is to get back to 100% formula in 48 hrs. they dont think this is a stomach virus.

they increased her zantac to 1.7 3x a day which is a VERY high dose. if she doesnt start keeping the bottles down she will have to have an endoscopy to see whats going on.

i am just so frustrated. my dh is so frustrated. my poor hannah. is the acid reflux really getting out of control? what else could it be?

I don't know about acid reflux but Maddie's Both End Virus ended after a full 2 days. Hope it's on its way out!

Katie was doing the same thing and it was an EAR INFECTION! I had NO idea that na ear infection could make the babies throw up, but it can. Katie was throwing up like you said your DD was - but she was pretty happy other times - until it was about 4 days and she was really sick w/ fever and was just wimpering. I would take the baby to the ped and have them check out her ears. Its very common for the babies to get ear infections from teething.

I hope they can figure out the problem and Hannah's feeling better soon! And you and your husband get some relief.

I hope they figure out what is bothering her and soon....hopefully you won't have to get the endoscopy

It took my soon two to three weeks to recover fully.

The worst mistake we made was rushing him into drinking his milk again. As soon as we thought he was feeling better we would give him his regular diet and that would cause him to go backwards. Continue with the 1/2 pedialyte 1/2 milk and slowly increase the amount of milk.

The doctor gave us Fluristat (sp?) so we could put in his bottle to help coat the stomach. He also told us that when you have the stomach virus you temporarily develop a milk intolerance. We switched to soy for a week before returning to regular milk.

Also wanted to say - they dehydrated really fast when they're little - is she able to keep the pedalyte down? If she cant, call your ped right away. They were borderline on sending Katie to the ER so she could get fluids in her (saline drip) because she was so dehydrated. I hope she feels better!
