Happy Update 10/29/07 in first post

Girls I could use some hugs today. I am sick with a cold. I am home with Grace and wish My DH could come home early so I could go to sleep. Anyway, We found black mold in our bathroom over the weekend, I may be sick from that, I don't know Chat Icon . Also, we do not know if it is in the walls. We will find out over the weekend.

Then, we had a brownout on Friday due to the storm Friday afternoon and still 1/2 of the outlets in the house do not work. I called the electric company and WE are responsible for THEM frying my circuit when they fixed the power. NONE of my neighbors have this problem, just us.

The thing is due to medical bills, my boss cutting my salary, etc., etc. We do not have the $$$ to have someone come and fix this stuff right now. We will in a few months, but the black mold cannot wait until then. We have a friend who is a contractor. He is coming up here (from Queens) on Saturday. I am not sure if he and DH can fix the mold and electrical issues, but I hope they can. We bought our home when I was first preggo, it was a fixer upper and we thought that we would fix it up over the course of two years. When we bought I was working F/T and was healthy. Well, You all know my story (with my surgery). Point is I did not expect all of this to happen in the last two years. Dh and I had a plan and now my home is falling apart, my body is falling apart and I am trying to get out ducks back in a row. THIS SUCKS! I hope none of you ever have health problems, because even with insurance, you will see everything you have worked hard for over the years go down the tube with one serious illness in the course of about six months.

I usually have more faith in things working out, but I feel like I am getting slammed in the last two months with all kinds of Cr@P. Sorry to vent and complain, I know all of you have you own problems, I just needed to vent.

ETA: Plus, I have my echo on Wed. and I am nervous as he!!. I wish I could erase the last eight months and start over with a clean slate. The worst part is that because of me and my surgery we are in this position. DH would NEVER tell me this, it is just how I feel. I feel totally responsible for all of these problems.

UPDATE: Took a short nap. I just emailed my SIL and told her everything. I feel better. She emailed me that she saw her neighbor walking his dog around her complex in his underwear and robe this morning. She waved to him and his robe came undone. LOL. I needed a good laugh!
She also suggested that we submit a application to Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I told her that there would be no way they would ever pick us. She told me I should submit it anyway just to see what happens. I don't know, should I? What do you all think?

Happy Update 10/29/07:
Just wanted to give you all a happy update. Over the weekend a family friend who is a contractor came over to fix the mold in our bathroom and my DH helped him. It was black mold and a leaky pipe was causing it. They fixed the pipe, cut out the moldy sheetrock, and replaced it in three places in the bathroom. Plus he fixed the electric in the house too. I think it was a blown transformer or something Chat Icon . He did say he was just putting "band aids" on the problem that our electric and plumbing were old and need to be redone as soon as we can do it.
Anyway, the whole process took 2 days. We were going to set up some kind of payment plan with him and he told us to pay it forward and not pay him anything. I could not believe it. I was crying, I was so overwhelmed buy his generosity.
We are still going to submit the tape and application to EMHE, but at least now the mold is gone and my electric works! Chat Icon
