Has anybody stayed overnight at St Charles with their child?
Looks like they want to keep DS overnight after his surgery next week. What should I expect? Sit in a chair next to him? I am clueless.
TIA!

Re: Has anybody stayed overnight at St Charles with their child?
DS was in St. Charles for 2 days last Feb. DH and I both got to stay with him. They have chairs that 'unfold' into a bed and they have pillows and blankets. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the nurses that took care of DS. They did everything they could to help make all of us as comfortable as possible. They have a coffee, soda, snacks, etc. that you can help yourself to in a small room.
I hope everything goes well!
Do not hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.

I doubt the both of us will stay overnight with him. We will leave it up to him who he wants to stay. Did your son have a roommate? Are there TVs? Can I bring a laptop?
That's good to know about the small room because I suddenly had anxious thoughts about being alone with him and wanting a soda or something. I know the staff is competent, but there is no way I could just leave DS's room to go to the cafeteria.

Re: Has anybody stayed overnight at St Charles with their child?
Each of the rooms are set up for 2 patients. DS happened to just not have anyone in the room with him at that time. Yes, you can bring your laptop. They have TVs that are on rolling carts with VCRs, so definitely bring your laptop for yourself and some DVDs for him. You can bring pretty much whatever you feel you need. I'm not sure what kind of surgery your DS is having. If it's nothing that he will be on a restricted diet for afterwards he will have a choice from the menu from room service, or you can bring him food. You will need to fend for yourself for food. DH and I took turns leaving the hospital and getting food for us. You and DH will be able to come and go anytime throughout the day and night. Just remember, I think it's after 10pm and before 5am, you will have to go in and out through the ER. Just tell the security guard you have a child that was admitted and he will let you go up.
Hope this all helps!

Thanks very much!!!!!!!
He will be on a restriced diet, so looks like he will be on a jello/pudding diet. He may like that.
