I went to Dr. Kofinas' office today. Last time my cervix was 37. Today it's 30-36 and she said I was contracting. She said that it's pretty much the stage I am at in my pregnancy because I am carrying twins. Dr. Ngyuen said to take indomethicin for the weekend. I guess my question is if you were told you were having contractions at around 29.5 weeks, how long did you carry for?

I don't know that I will be any help but when I saw dr kofinas on monday he explained to me that my cervix was shortening because of contractions and that the indomethacin would help and that is why it got a little better after the weekend of being on meds. I have only felt braxton hicks contractions and I am 25 1/2 weeks.

also my ob explained to me a few weeks ago that I would probably start to have contractions around 29-30 weeks because my skin and muscles would be stretched so much and won't want to stretch more and therefor would put pressure on my uterus and cause it to contract. are you on procardia as well?

Is he letting you continue to work? hope so!!!!

Yes I am on procarida as well. I am going to continue to work this week and see how I am next week. I see my OB on Saturday so ill see what he says too, but that totally makes sense what your OB said because that is exactly where I am now. I do get BH too and have been since about 25ish weeks. I feel better about the contractions thing now. Thanks Chat Icon

PS- are you brining them anything for the Thanksgiving holiday? I was thinking a tray of cookies but I don't know. Hmmmmmm!

I was contracting my ENTIRE pregnancy. I have to have a cerclage at 16 weeks due to shortening. I was on indomenthacin a few times and procardia up until delivery. I was even admitted to the hospital twice and given terbutaline by injection to the stop the contractions. I winded up delivering at 31 weeks 6 days but I had special circumstances as my twins were monoamniotic. However, I dont think I would have made it very much further considering my contractions were about 2 minutes apart right before my c-section.

i had a cerclage at 16 wks due to a shortening cervix and had contractions on/off for the remainder of my PG...i was going for monitoring 2x/wk. i also started getting weekly progesterone injections at 20 wks to help thicken the cervix and stop contractions.
i delivered at 35 wks, 2 days, but i was on strict bed rest since having the cerclage put in.

Thanks ladies. I had my cerclage at 24.5 weeks and everything was great up until now. So we'll see how I do on meds this weekend and I go back on Tuesday.

I had my cerclage done at 25 1/2 weeks, was on indomethican for a few weekends and procardia up until the end. I was contracting before I had the cerclage (which I never really felt) but I think the meds held the contractions off and I delivered at 36 weeks, 5 days....2 days after I went off the procardia!

I was hospitalized at 30w and 35w for preterm contractions, I'd been having them since about 23 weeks. I was put on procardia and bedrest after the 30w stay, and they came back at 35 weeks. My dr upped my frequency of procardia and I made it to my scheduled c-section at 37w5d.
