Has anyone done a pretty restrictive diet for 2 weeks and then switched over to WW? Thoughts?
I am just wondering.
Do you think its silly to follow something such as south beach or a plan given by a personal trainer for 2 weeks and then switch over to WW?
The guy that teaches my class at the gym gave me a printout for a 2 week jump start diet. he says average results are 8-13 pounds gone at the end of the 2 weeks. I feel like i can do that, BUT i would then go to WW. I don't know if i should expect to put back on a lot of the pounds or not..I have no clue.
My DH wants to try it for 2 weeks, he has the same 15 lbs as me to lose.
I am just nervous. I know that when followed correctly WW is the smart way to go..slow but steady. However I keep gaining adn losing the same 2 pounds over and over and over. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I would love to try something "different" like this but was looking to see if anyone else had done it? Or had advice?? Thanks!!

My mom just did this - she did South Beach phase 1 for 2 weeks and now is on WW. She lost around 9lbs those first 2 weeks and now is super motivated to be on WW, which is more liveable for her.

I haven't done that but I was just wondering if it might be worth your time to calculate the calories of the 2 week diet and then the points on WW to see if they are in a similar range.

i feel w.w. is the safest diet plan around. you won't feel like its a diet, you'll call it a lifestyle change. i've been at my goal for a year now. i lost it with weight watchers. my husband lost his weight with w.w. also

I think - Why not?
If you are finding it really hard to do, you can always stop after 1 week or a couple of days.
Is there anything dangerous about this diet? IMO, I am only concerned with fasts, etc. as I think they deprive you of nutrients. I don't think there is anything wrong with doing something a little extreme for a short period of time as long as you are still eating fruits, veggies, and lean protein.
I would be wary about your trainer's claims as they may be inflated...i.e. one person EVER lost that much and everyone else looses 2-5 lbs or something.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Edited to add: you can make weight watchers more extreme. By not eating your weekly and activity points, you are essentially just doing a very restrictive diet. Just another option I wanted to throw out there.

I started with the Special K diet and I only lasted one week because I was STARVING! So after that week, then starting WW... I felt like I was eating SO much! So it actually helped me get really into WW faster.

Thanks everyone!
What i have decided for now is to be very careful with WW and not count activity points. And only a cheat meal instead of a day which is how it ends up lately (or cheat weekend around the holidays..no good!!). We'll see how the first week goes..I can't believe i am struggling so hard with 15 pounds. I am at the gym 5 days a week for an hour at a time or more on my long run days!!!

just a suggestion. dont cheat.
do it hard core and eat what you would eat but just within the points. See how that works and it will maybe help and identify if it works for you.

I know...I should do that...i just feel like i could lose the weight by just having one cheat meal/week that way i don't feel totally hungry. But maybe your suggestion is the way to go for now..I just have such a hard time sometimes, lol! Time to stop whining and put on some big girl pants now!! LOL

I just started the 17 day diet and I am already down 12 lbs on the 11th day! It really is a great way to cut out all the crap and then slowly reintroduce healthy carbs and sugars! I am almost to the second cycle and I am not struggling at all. Give it a shot! You could actually follow the rules of this and incorporate it into WW. It's as much protein and cleansing veggies as you want then a limited amount of fruit and probiotics. It's worth a shot!
I actually went away to a hockey tournament, (I coach a 10u girls team) and was barely phased by the "bad" foods around me! Super impressed with myself!

I just did an 11 day diet & lost 9 lbs. My intention was to start WW this week; however, I'm doing a 2nd cycle of the 11 day diet first.
You have nothing to lose by trying the other diet first.

Sure! I'm a fan of detoxing for 2 weeks now and again, but of course there's a need to move on to something more sustainable. I say go for it! I don't see why you wouldn't be able to make the shift to WW after.
