Has anyone done THIS Polar Express train ride...
Polar Express in Utica, NY
We did the one in NJ last year and this year and it ALREADY all sold out =(
Wondering if it is worth the drive all the way up there and I guess I am wondering if there is anything else to do up there that would make a weekend trip worth while..
My DS (3.5 yrs) is OBSESSED with Polar Express...watches the movie all year round and watches youtube videos everyday   and has recently asked if he can ride the Polar Express! I feel bad i missed the boat on tixx for the NJ one
OH - and I know there is a North Pole train in CT - but I would rather a Polar Express theme bec he is so obsessed!

Have never done it but it looks like fun!
We looked into getting tickets for the NJ one and were shocked to see they were already sold out for this year

this happend to me last year when my son was 2.5 and I felt terrible -
I literally sent a pop up reminder on my calendar to buy the tickets this year - in AUGUST ! How ridiculous !!
I have never been at all - but I personally think it's worth a trip to the end of the earth in Utica to make him happy (and save you the horrible Mom guilt!)

haha - that is what I am thinking too!  The look on his face the whole time last year was priceless and he was only 2.5 yrs...now a year older and a year more of obsession...I think I just might do it! why not? right?
Just wish i knew someone who did it!

Look for a YouTube taken by a passenger. I always do that when I'm planning stuff like this. Also, is there any resale market on the nj one? Maybe you could get tix on cl? I'm thinking a lot of people probably end up unable to make it since you have to book so far in advance

This happened to us last year, I bought the parlor car tix for Essex and then something came up on the date we bought them for. I ended up selling them on Craig's List and they went very quickly. I also saw a lot of other tickets on there as well when it was close to the date.

Santa train rides in NJ
There is also a polar express one in Newport, Rhode Island - it might be closer than driving to Utica.

I'm trying to convince my DH to take the kids to Newport for a weekend.

We just booked the Newport, RI one this week. We are going to spend the night and take the Orient Ferry to get there. Can't wait! It's selling out quick though.
