SOrry for the TMI!
This is the second time this has happened now in her life (DD is 18 mos) so I now am wondering if this is normal or I should call the ped. DD has never really had constipation issues but, now that she is older it happens once in a while depending on her diet (maybe 4 times in her life). She doesn't go days without going but, she screams like crazy when she has to go and only a little comes out. A few months ago she was constipated (hadn't gone in about a day) and was crying each time she felt like she had to go - when she was REALLY going - like straining to push it out and crying hysterically (she had just drank about 8 oz milk 15 min b/f) she threw up. Now again, it just happened tonight - same situation although the milk was about 30 min ago. She was in discomfort two other times during the day when she was trying to push it out and, this time she was hysterical - it came out but, she also threw up. NOt the forceful kind of throw up like when they are sick - she didn't keep going but, it happened. She seems 100% fine now.
What do you think? Should I call the ped?
TIA!

I would say that her vomiting was from her straining to go. I wouldn't be concerned, but if you are then call the ped.

I have had severe issues in that department, and I can tell you when you're really backed up you will feel nauseous and feel like I may vomit, but I never have.
Have you been able to identify what in her diet is doing this?

When she has too much pasta and dairy type food and not enough fruit/fiber cereal type of stuff. \Also, most days I can only get her to drink milk and not water or anything else

I am the queen of constipation and I know how she feels.. Not going can definitely make her feel nauseous and all the straining can definitely make her throw up. The dairy may make her belly feel worse.. Try some 100% pear juice every other day to keep her bowels moving.. That is what helps my son who backs up a lot when he has too much dairy..
