Has anyone gone to take Santa pics at Macy's in Herald Square? - UPDATED WITH REVIEW & PIC!!!

Curious to know the pricing of pics and how the Santa set up is.

ETA: We went today! Chat Icon

We PLANNED to be there by 9am. LOL, we actually got there at 12:30pm. As we expected, the line was LONG and Macy's was crowded. Once we got up to the 8th floor though, it was very organized and they told us the wait was 35-40 minutes, but that it moved fast. They were right! It went very quickly and I don't think it was even a half hour wait. Once you get into Santa Land, I almost thought it moved a little too quickly since there were so many cute things to take pics in front of!

Santa was very nice, they let us take pics with our own camera Chat Icon One of the elves even took a family pic for us. They didn't rush us, but you can't really laligag around since they put another family outside your Santa room door.

There are elves all throughout the line, a piece of the "polar express", and when you enter Santa land there are cool paintings over the walls, lots of trees, decorations, stuffed and animated animals, etc. Cute stuff for the kids (and big kids like us!).

Picture packages were different. If you wanted just 1 pic, it was $18.99. If you wanted 1 pic on a flash drive, it was $34.99 (not worth it to me since I just scanned the one we bought Chat Icon). If you wanted 4 pics I think it was $39.99. For 6 pics and the flash drive with the 6 pics, it was $49.99 (GREAT if you go with more people that you can split it with!).

We bought just one pic of DS with Santa and the only reason we bought it is because the pics I took weren't so great. However, our family pic was much better from my camera than the ones they took, so we didn't buy one of those Chat Icon

We're going first thing Saturday morning. With a 6 month old. CLEARLY this is DH's idea and not mine. He had this tradition growing up and wants to start it for DD. I can let you know afterwards! Chat Icon

Chat Icon It's my idea to go, but we want to go early during the week this week. I'm just wondering if it's worth it with a 9 month old, to take the subway in etc. Or if we should just go to one of the malls in Nassau (we live in Queens).

I just went for the first time yesterday. I went with my mother, sisters and their kids. The youngest was my nephew at 6mos.

With that said - it was FANTASTIC!! When we got on line, they said it was about a 50 min wait, BUT the lines moved quickly; there were tons of "elfs" throughout the line cheering you on (they were SO friendly) and I believe it wound up to be more of a 35-40 minute wait rather than 50. At one point, while waiting on line, you go through the polar express train, santa's workshop, etc.. There are tons of opportunities to take pics while waiting on line, so be sure to bring your camera. Once you take your pictures (they will do as many poses as you wish - we did 6!); you then move to a line where you look at your pictures. This is literally less than a 5 min wait. I don't recall all the pricing BUT it $40.00 for (4) 5x8's. We bought the digital package which was 6 poses on a thumb drive for $49.99. This way we could upload the digital pics to snapfish and have prints made up ourselves. Since we were all splitting it, it was so cheap.

The pictures with Santa are on the 8th floor. I recommend heading to the 9th floor afterwards to browse the trees. They have SO many trees decorated to themes. Its so pretty to see and its fun - even if you dont buy anything.

I recommend it - we had a BLAST!!

We stopped in there on Saturday and it was a ZOO! We weren't planning on taking pics (didn't have DS with us), but wanted to check out the scenery. It's beautiful!

There were sooo many people, the line was approx 90 minutes. Beware, it was VERY hot in there! Chat Icon

Thanks for this! I've seen the setup in previous years and always wanted to go when I had my own DC, sounds awesome. But holy crap $50 for pics?!?!?!!! Yikes! If my SIL would join us with her kids, we could split it, but not sure it's worth it just for DS. Unless they have a smaller package? But it does sound like a lot of fun! And hopefully a weekday morning won't be too terrible, wait time wise.

You have to get there very early or near closing! Santa arrives around 8 am. There are several really good Santas!

They definintely have cheaper packages, but unfortunately I can't recall all of them. Since there were 5 of us splitting the cost, we opted for the $50 package.
