Has anyone had a blood clot (in the uterus)?
I had an ultrasound today (7w3d) the baby looks great, but the dr. said I have a small blood clot. He said it could all come out at once, I could spot for a few days, or it might just resolve on its own. I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with this that they could share.
Thanks!

Yes. You should make an appointment to see Dr. Kofinas in Garden City. He is the expert in dealing with how to treat it.

My RE didn't seem all that concerned that I should go see a perinatologist. Why would you suggest this, out of curiosity?

I don't think you need to see a peri if it is a small clot. I had a medium sized clot and bled, on and off, from 6wks-15wks. There were times when I had VERY heavy bleeding and clots. I asked my RE if I should see a peri and he said there was no need. I stayed with my RE for a while and then went to my regular OB. It was very scary, but it cleared itself up and I am almost 36wks now.
They are pretty common with twins and IVF pregnancies.
The things that helped me the most was rest. I saw a correlation between pushing myself and bleeding more.
If you have any questions, feel free to FM.

Re: Has anyone had a blood clot (in the uterus)?
I had a small clot! I bled from it twice (red) and had brown spotting from it. The good thing is that now if you DO bleed, you don't have to automatically assume the worst and freak out like I did!!
My dr said it wasn't a big deal and it didn't effect the baby at all!! I had it around 9wks. If you look it up, you will see it's not uncommon!!
ETA: Like the PP said, I also noticed the effects of it more when I was more active.. like when I was cleaning out my classroom and doing a lot of straining w/ laundry, etc.- that's when I saw the blood! Just take it easy! You'll be fine!

Re: Has anyone had a blood clot (in the uterus)?
I had a subchorioinc hematoma ( blood clot in the uterus) I conceived her through IVF and apparently it is very common w/ IVF pregnancies
I did have bleeding with it ...Some peoples bodies will re-absorb the blood, Others, it will come out which is what happened to me...It can be very scary , but I went on to deliver a very healthy baby girl ...They can actually see the blood working its way out on the sonograms (which I ended up getting quite often)
ETA- I always thought clots were bad but they are not a bad thing, as scary looking as they are !

Re: Has anyone had a blood clot (in the uterus)?
I had a perisac hematoma with DD#1. I was having some spotting and horrible back pain about a week before 1st OB visit and with our persistence demanded an ultrasound. Sure enough they found it. I went to a high risk dr and couldn't exercise until 2nd tri, BUT it resolved itself and we went on to have a healthy

Re: Has anyone had a blood clot (in the uterus)?
I had a blood clot that was found during my first sonogram. I never had to see any specialists or anything, just had to take it easy. I never bled, tried not to do any heavy lifting (but my daughter was 17 months old, and I couldn't avoid picking her up), and it re-absorbed back into my body. I was super nervous since I never had it in my first pregnancy, but two weeks later I was told the clot was gone- it was a great feeling. Take it easy and I'm sure things will be fine!!
