I would get off balanced billing and enter your meeting every month. If you are being over charged now on balanced billing and not really using electric, it will even out later on.

How do you enter your own? I used to be able to do that for my water bill at my old house. Now they have cars that come around and read out meter and so does Nation Grid.

My gas meter is inside and we aren't home when they come around. I enter that meter and I knew how much my bill would be when the meter was to be updated. Obviously, with the cold winter, there was an increase for most people as my gas/electic was used to keep ya warm.
Both national grid and pseg can do a manually meter reading. They show you how to do it or you can enter it over the phone. I think the web site is the easiest thing. This way your bill will be more accurate and avoid being high or to low. Image Attachment(s):

NO, knock on wood. Our PSE&G bills have actually been lower each month since they took over. We don't do balanced billing, we pay monthly and our meter is read every 2-3 months to accurately bill us.

My power bill went up. I called. The power supply has gone up by about 40% or so. I compared my bills from sept to feb. You can see where the power supply went up and how much extra it was. Its unreal and we have no choice.
My latest bill has actually nothing on it. Usually it has our usage but it's not there. I plan to call today to ask why it's not on the new bill. It was on last month's bill.

Yes, it does even out in the end, this is why we pay attention to our usage. Some utility bills will say estimate not actual so it will be way off. When this has happened, we call to give them the correct reading.

ITA with you!
What the hell is the point of balanced billing if they are going to randomly increase it. I've had a different bill every month now for the past three months. It's ridiculous.
Such a rip off. Hate living in NY.

yes, ours also went up $55. And it has nothing to do with usage - its their supply charges that went up

It also has nothing to do with balanced billing. I am not on balanced billing and my bills have gone up like crazy.

Re: Has anyone had a huge increase in their PSEGLI bill?
Ours went up and DH was asking me what I'm doing differently at home to make it so high. We had just noticed a decrease after we put in our clothesline and I began putting towels, jeans, blankets/sheets on the line to dry in the sun instead of using the dryer. Can't imagine the bill if I was still doing that.

Has anyone had a huge increase in their PSEGLI bill?
Our's went up on an empty house we own, no one lives there for the moment. I called and they told me to read the meter myself, that dropped it a bit. I called again and they came and read it which dropped it some more. We were upset as it was still very high so I unplugged everything I could to stop using extra power. That helped. Then randomly we got a bill that credited us some. No explanation.

Yes. My balanced bill went up $30 a month.
On my local moms group, some chick called to complain to them and they said warming her newborns' bottles are causing her bill to go up each month.

Has anyone had a huge increase in their PSEGLI bill?
My bill went up $85/month. Our house is electric only and we have ductless heating and cooling. Granted it was a cold 2 months but our bill last month was $200 more than last year's bill. That's insane.

Re: Has anyone had a huge increase in their PSEGLI bill?
LOL.... YES! I just got a bill for $9,400..... up from $160.
I almost passed out. The rep on the phone asked me if I used a space heater..... "Um, not one that could warm Madison Square Garden", I responded.
As it turns out, they misread the meter....imagine that?! I have a feeling I am going to have to examine my bills carefully going forward.
