Has anyone had experience with this? RE: leasing a car

I found out my Rav 4 loan was approved today but I have a lease that is up in Jan. that Toyota is paying off.
Anyhow, I have to surrended the car to mitsubishi. Do I make an appt? Do I just go there and drop off? Do I drop off before picking up the toyota rav 4? I wish toyota was able to just take the mitsubishi and them deal with it.

I leased a Mazda in July and I am pretty positive I saw signs in their dealership that you need to make an appt for this because the amount of time involved to inspect the car and such.

you have to make an appt and usually someone comes to inspect the car at your convenience before the appt.

I've done this before, you will need to call the dealership you are returning the car to and make an appt. It takes about a 1/2 hr or so. They walk around the car and inspect and then have you sign some release paperwork. Congrats on the new car!

If they feel there are too many dings, they dont expect you to pay right then and there, right?

what do you mean?

Usually your car will be inspected by a third party inspection company. They will mark up a sheet that you will have to sign. It won't happen at the dealership.

The statement you will sign at the dealership is an odometer reading.

btw-your car doesn't have to be perfect. Deep stratches more than 5 inches and 5 dings per panel are usually allowed. No cracks in windshields and at least 2/32 of tread on your tires.

It does vary with each leasing company though.

So you mean I am out of there after they read the odometer? and then they sent it out for the rest of the inspection?

It varies with each car company. That's how it works with Toyota. Nissan and Volkswagon used to send the 3rd party inspection company to your house or wherever the car was and take a look and then you sign off on everything.

What leasing company is it?
