Has anyone had this happen? A little scary
So I know we aren't supposed to get massage unless it's by a prenatal professional, but I never considered the little neck rub they give you at the nail place a real massage. Anyway, the way the woman was rubbing my neck, all of a sudden, I felt really lightheaded and dizzy and broke out in a sweat. It must have been a minute only, but I asked for water and then felt fine. Trying to drink water and just relax now; will mention it to the doc Friday at my visit. I freaked out; do you think it's ok? I feel ok now. in the 13th wk this week.

I'm sure its ok- just keep drinking water if you can
I actually passed on the little massage that they do at the end last time I went because my place has the massage chairs and that actually ended up hurting- so I shut it off after a couple minutes

maybe next time i will pass. it felt great on my shoulders--it was something specifically she was doing to my neck that I could feel myself getting dizzy

It's fine.
I had a professional pre-natal massage a couple of weeks ago at a high end spa and was told the only place they couldn't touch were my ankles and between my thumb and pointer finger. Those are trigger spots.

my doc told me that in this weather the whole 6-8 glasses a day isnt enough. we all should be consuming more like 10-12. you couldve just been dehydrated and it be a complete coincidence.
feel better and stay hydrated!

I was also going to say the weather.
I never turn down the free neck massage at the nail salon.

Re: Has anyone had this happen? A little scary
thanks, girls. wow, this can be scary! I have NEVER felt lightheaded like this ever. I just looked in my What To Expect and it says feeling like that from even gentle massage is normal b/c something about blood flow. I called the doc rather than wait for Friday b/c that's just how I am; I'm waiting for her call. I'm sure she'll just tell me to rest.

I never turn down a massage BUT
I wanted to say, even now at 35w - the ONLY place I have ever felt sick (light headed, dizzy, sick to my stomach) was the nail salon! So strange, I think its the chemicals!
