Has anyone had to take Rx pain meds during pregnancy?
I am looking for success stories, I guess. I am feeling incredibly guilty for having to take them but my pain is just unmanageable right now. It's either surgery or pain meds
My doc just prescribed them, I haven't taken them yet. Has anyone had to take them while pregnant? Did it affect the baby?

my friend had REALLY bad kidney stones when she was preggo and took pain meds ! Her DS is totally fine

From what I've read it is very risky to the fetus to take Rx pain medication while pregnant. I think speaking to your doctor and confirming dosages etc is the best thing that you can do.

crashing...when I had a kidney infection at 5 months pregnant, they actually shot me up with morphine (it was that painful, and they only did it once)
and during my 4 day hospital stay, they were giving me percocet every 4 hours as needed (and believe me, it was needed!)

I did speak with my OB, he has okayed it before my surgeon prescribed it. I'm just so torn weighing the risks of surgery vs risks of pain meds

My friend Holly had really awful kidney stones and complications and was on a high dose of percocet for most of her pregnancy. She, of course, was against taking them and tried not to take them initially but eventually had to. She too was concerned about the potential effects.
Her daughter is perfect, beautiful, healthy and 5 months old.
I know every body and case is different- but in my only experience with someone taking pain RX during preg, she and baby are just fine.

During my last pregnancy my neurologist was trying out different meds for my migraines. One was Percocet and there was about 2 others that we tried too. None of them worked for me so my OB said he would rather me take my Imitrex knowing that it will get rid of my migraine instead of my body gonig through all the stress of being in pain. In his opinion the stress was worse then any possible side effects. My babies are perfectly fine and he once again confirmed my use of it with this pregnancy too.

i took tylenol w codeine for my migraines, prescribed by my OB. the migraine medicines i was on for pain management prior to getting pregnant would have been MUCH worse for the baby.
