has anyone here ever refinished wood floors themselves?
DH is going to start doing this. he's done it once before, but now he is faced with the task of pulling up staples and pulling out nails from the carpet that was on top, that he never had to deal with before.
any advice or helpful tips would be much appreciated!

At my father's house my ex bf and I did. It was pretty hard. We had to rent this huge sander from home depot that made such a mess and had to wait until all the dust really settled after sanding before we could do anything stain/varnish related.

My DH did has done it countless times..
If you have any specific questions while the process is ongoing just let me know.
He too pulled up carpet...
I also know he used some type of tacky cloth after he sanded to make sure that he got up every last speck of dust...

DH has a shop vac that he will use after he sands, but i would love to know what this tacky cloth is called!
did your DH have any issues pulling up the nails and staples after the carpet was up?
