Has anyone here ever struggled w/their own weight and what family has to say?
I've always been up and down w/my weight...from having to lose lots of weight, to losing too much in an unhealthy way. I know a lot of it is from other problems. During my teens/early 20's, I had an eating disorder where I lost too much weight...and I remember lots of times doing stuff like this in spite of my mom's comments.
DH and I got into an argument tonight about something totally unrelated, and I've been stressed (duh, we had our first baby in July) and I'm a grad student...so yeah, I haven't been eating so healthy...
well tonight he decides to tell me this...that not only recently is he worried about my health, but in the past few years he's been worried about it (cause I've gained weight after we got married)
ALL because I came home today and said chocolate and coffee are getting me through this semester
I'm so pizzed off about people commenting on my weight/health...I KNOW! I see myself everyday...WT F!

I totally understand where you are coming from. But, in your DH's defense he said he was worried about your health not "OMG look how heavy you are!!" (that gem came from my mother straight to my face).

yes - you know i have...but it's never been dave...it's my mom.
the last time she commented on my weight i said to her - dave loves me where i am now and that's all that matters to me. she has not said a word since.

i would be too - because i would be suspicious that he really meant he was worried about how i looked and not really my health!
i have one sister who actually told me she was so glad i was pregnant (with DS) because she would finally be thinner than me. and she called me fat every chance she got.
i would not worry about anyone else but yourself - as hard as that is to do! you're right, it's beyond rude to comment on someone else's weight. just focus on being healthy for you and your DS, and everything else will fall into place

SO frustrating!!!!! My mom keeps sending me articles on how to lose weight. I was a competitive swimmer all my life. I had career ending surgery and have had problems since. It's frustrating.
All that matters is being healthy!!!
