Has anyone NOT taken BC at the start of the IVF process?
Dr. B gave me two options, take BC for about 3 weeks then start the process or start testing on CD12, 2x's a day, with OPK and call when I get a surge, if no surge by CD20 call him and go in and we'll still be able to start. I opted for no BC since in the past it always made me feel sick.

I did not do the BC either. I was not allowed to bc I have MTHFR. So I guess you just need to decide what works for you since he is giving you a choice.

Re: Has anyone NOT taken BC at the start of the IVF process?
I only did BCP's on my 1st IVF cycle and then after that I used ganirelix and estrogen to suppress. Why is he making you decide, he should decide the best protocol. Not fair to do to you. The last thing you need is to feel like you made a mistake on choosing..KWIM?
I guess if BCP's make you ill then opt out of it. Its a much nicer cycle without them.

He said both ways are fine and gave me the option bc I said I didn't want to take the pill. I trust him that both ways are fine and chose the no BC route, I was just curious if anyone else did this. He did mention ganirelix but it will be after I get my surge or CD20, whichever comes first!

That is a good question, and I am glad you asked it. I can't take bcp's because I have complex migraines. Glad to know that I will have other options!

Re: Has anyone NOT taken BC at the start of the IVF process?
I never did and I guess my cycle was sort of unorthodox as they worked with my natural cycle. I never suppressed at all. My results were similar to others I have seen on here with high fsh and I was successful on my 1st IVF. I have 10 month old twins.
