Has anyone replaced their basement windows lately?

Ours are the original windows in the house (1950), and with the energy tax credit expiring plus our plan to renovate the basement this coming winter/spring into a family room, we're considering getting them done.

Has anyone recently replaced theirs and if so, how much did you end up paying per window? The ones we have are the standard rectangular windows. I'm not sure of the dimensions but I would estimate they are roughly 20" x 36". Also, did you go with a local door/window company or did you go through Home Depot or Lowes?

TIA!

I did this a few years ago through a window/siding co. I cant tell you the price. They didnt cost too much though, since they are such small windows.

We bought them from HD for like, $80 a window and DH and BIL installed them in less than an hour - 5 windows under $500

Re: Has anyone replaced their basement windows lately?

Has anyone ever MOVED a basement window or added a new one?

I might need to move a basement window as part of my dormer. Very nervous as this would obviously require opening a new window hole and closing the old hole. Concerned about future leaks and such.

not a window but DH rented a saw and cut through our foundation (of course after a hole was dug out and etc) and put in a door, so Im sure adding a window would be a lot less work Chat Icon nothing leaks.

Our basement is finished (by previous owner who were 'handy') we plan on moving one when we redo the basement our way in Jan. I have my SfiL and his newphew doing it. Im freaked about it and the side crashing down.
