Has anyone swaddled a baby let them sleep in the carseat at night?
The reason I ask this silly question is because I really want to start swaddling RJ because I feel as though he does need it. He just hates it but, it sometimes works, especially for naps. He was fussy so much just now and I swaddled him and put him in the swing and he fell asleep on his own. Yay!!!
Anyway, the thing I hate is that since he is in the swing (or the carseat) the blanket goes near his mouth and nose and it makes me nervous.
The doc. said to make sure he sleeps elevated in the carseat or swing and that the inclined to sleep is not a good enough incline for acid reflux kids.

Sleeping in the carseat is a SIDS risk, I am not a nut about those things, but I would not have DC sleep in the car seat, I would use the swing instead.

I never knew that. Why is that? My ped. told me to do that.

My DS sleeps swaddled (in a miracle blanked) in the swing every night. I am trying to break him of the swing habit, but haven't been successful so far. Anyway, the swaddle is nowhere near his mouth or face.

Caden slept swaddled, in his bouncer, until he was 2 months old...Because of his reflux he just couldnt lay flat. It was physically uncomfortable for him.

we have the fp glider...it is big and deep...i would swaddle him, but I couldn't buckle him in, so I would put the edge of it against the couch so he couldn't slide out...then I would sleep on the couch...we did this for 4 months!

DD does, she doesn't get swaddled anymore. our Pedia said its fine and what ever makes her comfortable to fall asleep. Alot of my friends did this, we also use the swing, bouncer too.

Re: Has anyone swaddled a baby let them sleep in the carseat at night?
I was allowing my DD to sleep in her carseat when she was sick to keep her elevated, but my pediatricain said to stop it b/c of a SIDS risk. Maybe you could try one of those things that you put in the crib that they fall alseep on an incline? I know it is torture because you want to do what just gets them to sleep, but my DD has always napped in her carseat and now trying to break that is impossible, so you don't want to get them used to anything. Does she sleep better unswaddled? My DD did - I got a blanket sleeper to keep her warm.

I swaddled Ava until she was like 8 weeks and really started moving. Then I got nervous about the blanket in her face.
She still sleeps in her car seat. She use to choke on her spit up in the middle of the night until we did the car seat. My dr said she should be spending 100% of her life in an upright position until she's 9-12 months and her stomach is better.
Sleeping in car seats is not good for normal kids, but it's recommended for reflux babies. Nothing else keeps them upright enough. I buckle her in so she can't move around. I also put a wedge under the car seat so it leads back a little to keep her head from going forward. This is all what my dr recommended when I expressed my concerns.
