Has this happened to anyone? Health related- long, sorry.
So, on Tuesday morning (at like 3:30am), I woke up with excrutiating back pain all across my upper back and across my upper chest. I was so scared- I thought I was having a heart attack. It hurt to breathe- not my lungs, but my chest- like my muscles and bones hurt. I felt really really hungry, and then had a little acidy taste in my mouth (kinda reminded me of the acid reflux I had with when I was PG with DD). I went into the bathroom and proceeded to get sick (sorry, TMI). I felt a little better, but my back still hurt, so I took some extra strength tylenol.
I couldn't get comfortable, and I was still in some pain, so I made DH take me to the ER. By the time we got there, and got checked in, I felt so much better. They did a chest xray, and that came up clean, so they let me go home and told me it was just muscular pain. I felt fine all that day, and yesterday.
So, this morning (or last night depending on how you look at it), the same thing happened! I woke up again, and my spine was killing me- not so much my muscles like the previous time, but I was in pain. The acid reflux came on again, I felt moderately hungry, and then I got sick again. It took me a while to get comfortable, but I eventually did, and fell back asleep.
I'm going to call my doctor, but I'm so scared that something is wrong. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Re: Has this happened to anyone? Health related- long, sorry.
I seriously thought i was having a heart attack or something
I'm thinking it's a chest cold or virus or something taking up a home in my chest. If I'm not feeling better tomorrow, I'm going to call the Dr.
My heartbeat/pulse are fine...no palpitations, no speedy beats, etc....just what feels like a big giant bruise right smack in the middle of my chest and across my back in the shoulder region.

Re: Has this happened to anyone? Health related- long, sorry.
i doubt it's a virus if the symptoms show up only at night.
actually sounds like a classic case of acid reflux - happened while lying down, pain felt in your chest or back, acid refluxing into the mouth, nausea/vomiting, and then you feel better once upright for a little while.
i would call your doctor. you could probably use some meds for it. feel better

You may want to consider having a sonogram for gallstones. Gallbladder problems are very common after pregnancy.

I actually just read the symptoms of a gallbladder attack, and I have all of them!
So who would I call- my OB or my regular doctor?

it's definitely possible that this is a gallbladder attack, although what you originally described sounded very much like acid reflux.
if it is a gallbladder attack, it will likely go away on its own, but there is a chance that it will worsen and need treatment.
if you can't see your GP, i would at least try to speak with them about your concerms. this way you can come up with a game plan in case things develop / worsen over the weekend.
ETA: if you have an episode that lasts longer than 6 hours, or if the pain gets significantly worse, or if you get a fever, i would go back to the ER and get checked out no matter what - better safe than sorry

Re: Has this happened to anyone? Health related- long, sorry.
I was just going to say, these are similar symptoms I had when having a gallbladder attack last year. The ER I went to sent me home with valium for "back spasms". Turns out, a few days later, they had to take it out.
Call your doc!!! Feel better!

If you have another attack, go to the ER. If you pass a stone it can lead to some serious complications.
You can help control the attacks by eating a very low fat diet until you see a GI.
I have to say, I passed a gallstone and it was more painful then contraction at 10cm!

I just saw this now. What you described definitley sounds like a gall bladder attack!! I had every single symptom you mentioned. Honestly, I am surprised the ER didn't do a sono on you for gall stones. Definitley have a Dr. Check you out., I was in surgery practically the next day!
Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Has this happened to anyone? Health related- long, sorry.
About 3 weeks after I had DD, I also had very bad pains in my back. They would come and go. Turns out I had a kidney infection, and I thought I had a virus because I kept getting sick and had a really high fever. I ended up spending a week in the hospital when my DD was 3 weeks-1 month old. Definitely get it looked into. Feel better!

I was just going to say that.. it could be Pancititus.. or the beginning of it . I had it 4 months after DD was born because there was a gallstone in my tract . I was showing symptoms a few weeks before and ignored them and I had the attack that was really bad. I actually went to the ER and all they did was a chest xray. I followed up in the Dr offcie the next day and got really sick in the Dr office and he sent me right to the ER. I was in the hospital for 7 days and then had my gall bladder removed 2 weeks later. Better get it checked now before it gets worse...
Also avoid high fat, greesy and acidy foods( tomato sauce is what pushed me over the edge. )
