Hating myself....do you ever just lose your patience??
i mean i am just hating myself for getting so frustrated with my DD sometimes-she is only 6 months and i am supposed to be the adult! i got so frustrated before when she would not take a nap even though she totally needed it and was screaming...i kept trying, going up putting the binky in repeatedly. i should have just stopped trying an gave in earlier but persisted too long and got annoyed. i kept thinking that if i gave in she would be spoiled and expect me to get her every time she cried. so dumb. i feel like the worst mom now thinking about it. she just wasn't tired and i feel like i had no right to get so mad at her

We all do it. Even now at a 1 years old, it can get very frustrating. But, yes, I have lost my patience and have gotten mad at John and then later on I feel guilty. But, as first time Mother's we don't understand what they are crying about or what he really want to do. You will be fine. Your not alone.

Don't beat yourself up about it. That can be very frustrating.

OMG- you shouldd see the mini temper tantrums I have while I'm walking to her room in the middle of the night when she wakes up for the umpteenth time- complete with air punches and kicking the carpet.
Once I'm in there and she's in my arms, it all melts away~ but boy, I'm amazed at the anger I feel beforehand.
You're a GREAT mommy!!!

Cut yourself some slack. I know with me, sometimes I just feel frustrated and exhausted. ...and when they won't nap It's so, so, hard.

Re: Hating myself....do you ever just lose your patience??
I thing we have all had our frustration at some point. We lose our patience. As long as we don't take it on DC.
I have found myself frustrated too when he refuses to nap (which is any time he is not in daycare ). I keep reminding myself he is only 6 months old. I take a deep breath (or 2!). It usually works for me.

It happens. I remember when Bryan was younger and I *Finally* got him down for a nap..I'd hear him about 20 mins later and under my breath would be like "OMG R U Freakin kidding me"..Ooh some other words were used too.
We all go through it. Even now, there are a few times where things get said under my breath and then afterwards Im just looking at him like 'OMG how could I get mad at him"...
You are NOT a bad mom..Not even close. We've all been through it.

Re: Hating myself....do you ever just lose your patience??
Don't hate yourself. If you do, then I should too. I was very curt with DD tonight because she wouldn't go to sleep. I was minutes away from tossing her in the crib and just walking away and letting her scream if she wanted to (and I am not a fan of CIO)
I think we all have moments and our own moms probably had them too.

Re: Hating myself....do you ever just lose your patience??
Just wanted to come on here and tell you it happend again for me last night- and I totally thought of this post!.
DD was down at 8. At 10 I went into the bathroom to brush teeth/wash face. I come out and DH has a look of panic:
DH: She's awake. Me: WHO? (duh!) DH: SHE is (nodding towards the baby's room) Me: Are you FRIGGIN' kidding? No, NO, NOOOOOOO (start air punches- scare the dog).
Such is life with an infant....

Re: Hating myself....do you ever just lose your patience??
Do I? For sure!!
I remember, with #1 when she was an infant, I'm talking like 2 mos. old infant, I would tell her to "Shut the F up." I'm not kidding--I figured she would never know what it means, or remember Now, that she's 2, I can no longer say that, but boy, am I thinking it in my head...and loud! In fact, right now, I feel like killing her...seriously. Ah, but let's not project the future for you...
So, yes, I'm sure many of us have been there...many times!

OMG! yes! have done this and say to DH that i better stop or her first word is going to be a curse word that i can't type here. i really and truly thought i was the only one who feels this way sometimes. i am amazed every day at how hard motherhood is. how hard it is to take care of someone so little who needs so much. i never ever anticipated how trying it could be! totally worth it and rewarding but so hard too!

OMG! I just have to share...
Last week when Cailen was going through the nonstop cry-fest from teething - I mean, nonstop, I HAD to get out of the house...
I get him in his car seat, and he's wailing away... my head is pounding by now since its like day 3 of this...
And it was freezing. My car doesn't always start when it's cold out, but it depends on what the engine sounds like. So I'm trying to start my sputtering car and listen to what the engine is doing, and he is wailing and screaming on the top of his lungs. I pound the steering wheel and scream... Then I did the unthinkable... I DID shout - SHUT THE F*** UP!!!
Thankfully he couldn't see my face, but I swear, he did stop!!!!
The car started.
Then I felt awful...

We can't be expected to be pefect all the time just because we are the mommy. They have their bad days like we have, and we are entitled to be frustrated sometimes. It's an exhausting job! I have been there, we all have, but you are only human. You are a great mommy!
