Have a couple of questions for NYPD or their wives re: insurance policy and pension?
DH and I finally got around to figuring out life insurance policies. Can you confirm what the NYPD gives for on the job and off the job death related events to the spouse/children?
Also, if DH were to die on or off the job (I know, so morbid, but unfortunately now with DS we need to think about these things), what am I or any spouse of an NYPD officer entitled to?
You can FM me if you dont want to post the info. Is there a handbook or office I can call that answer these questions? I want to make sure what DH is telling me is correct before we make any decisions re: life insurance, wills, etc.

I dont know the actual death benefit amt...but its not much. In the end yous till need to buy additional life insurance.
DH and I are going to be doing this soon and he is NYPD.
ETA: On the job receives more than if dead occurs off the job.
