Re: Revisiting the question of bunion surgery
It depends on your contract with your insurance carrier. A lot of insurance carriers need to see proof that you tried other means to make your foot feel better and the severity of the bunion. I have been working for a podiatrist for 16 yrs, HTH Usually it is covered.

Re: Revisiting the question of bunion surgery
My mother's several bunion surgeries were covered. Very painful though and a few week recovery time.

Re: Revisiting the question of bunion surgery
When I was GOING to get it done, it was going to be covered. Didn't get it done b/c my insurance ran out (I was graduating college and under my stepdad's insurance)

Re: Revisiting the question of bunion surgery
I 've had both my feet done, my second foot was done 3 weeks ago and both of my surgeries were covered by insurance but they definitely checked that it was not cosmetic and a necessity.
FM if you'd like anymore info, good luck!

Re: Revisiting the question of bunion surgery
Yes mine was covered. I had both feet done.
It's a condition that worsens & causes problems with the other toes depnding on the severity. By the time my mom went, she had to get the bunion surgery & a problem with the toe next to her big toe fixed too.
For the record, I'm still thrilled that I got mine done.
