Have you been a victim of identity theft???
I feel like all of a sudden this type of thing is happening more and more..

Depends what you call "identity theft".
The true meaning of identity theft is somebody opening new accounts under your name and SSN for their own benefit. (like getting a car loan, credit card, mortgage, etc)
Have I had fradulant charges show up on some credit cards? Sure but I don't call that identity theft. That's just somebody cloning credit cards and got lucky with a number and expiration date.

Biggest issue I had was somebody bought furniture using one of my credit cards up in the Bronx. No idea how they did that since I had my cards with me. Was about $2000 worth of furniture. Credit Card company removed it immediately after I called them (Citibank).
I had somebody buy a month's worth of Blizzard online gaming using my debit card. (it's like Xbox live from what I heard)
That took a little longer to get off since I use a mom and pop bank for banking and this was with a debit card and not a credit card.
Nothing too tramutizing. I really don't care if fradulant charges show up on my credit cards since I am not responsible for them.

Yes. It was 8-9 years ago, though. Hopefully it will not happen to me again. In some ways it was more difficult then because the authorities hadn't set up ways to deal with it.

my hubby has. huge one. I posted a bit about it, like 2 yrs ago.  what a nightmare.
luckily we didnt lose a dime.
but to know there's some guy out there that looks NOTHING like my husband with the same name on his "Drivers license"  kinda made me die laughing  (After the freaked out phase wore off  )
seriously though, its scary stuff.

YIKES, a family member? sorry to hear that
i was a victim of identity theft about 8 years ago. it got so out of control that i had to hire a detective. turns out he never actually found the person/people. it took me 2 years to clear it up
