Have you ever asked for a raise?
I did. My boss was nice and said he couldn't give me one at that time. Then they managed to give me a bonus a few days later.
I feel like I did plant a seed for the following year. I did get a raise the next year.
Make sure you bring in a list of all the things you do.

Re: Have you ever asked for a raise?
Yes, several times. You need to come in confident that you deserve one with the facts to back it up, yet know that you may have to accept a "no" or "not now" at the end of the discussion.
It's also a good idea to have a feel for what the market rate is for your role. In other words, what are other companies paying your position with your experience, etc.
Any other questions, let me know.

Re: Have you ever asked for a raise?
I did ask but was told "we are uncertain about things right now" and we just got news that they are cutting budgets so I feel like I can't even ask anymore. But I'm def overworked and underpaid.

Re: Have you ever asked for a raise?
I really can't because my company is very strict about only giving raises once a year (unless you get a promotion or move into a new role with a higher salary). So every year on my anniversary date, I get a raise based on my review. Same goes for all the employees who work for me, I can't give them anything if it's not been 1 year since their last raise.

Re: Have you ever asked for a raise?
Yes I did. He was receptive but could not give me a raise at that time. Then, several months later, he gave me a raise. But in reality, we get raises every year in December. When he gave me the raise, it was October, and he prefaced it with this is in lieu of that in December so really he gave me a raise 2 months earlier just to keep me happy. Really, it didn't keep me happy and I left shortly after that.

Re: Have you ever asked for a raise?
Also keep in mind that unless you work for a small company where you report right to the owner or President/CEO, many boss's hands are tied in giving out raises. It's not really at their discretion and has to do with budgets that are decided a year in advance and company polices on when employees can get raises.

Have you ever asked for a raise?
Most of my positions had annual reviews and raises were discussed then. I'm a small business owner now, and I would hate for one of my employees to leave because they felt that they were under paid. I would definitely ask, personally I would rather pay an employee more money or give them more hours than train someone new. Good luck!

Re: Have you ever asked for a raise?
Yes, it took about two months, and looking internally, when they realized poaching was going to occur, they gave a substantial raise.
