Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
Today, after giving Maddie a bath, I was holding her upright (she was facing over my shoulder) and I wasn't supporting her back because I had to open up the bathroom door ( I thought she would be fine for a second since she is getting pretty good with her neck control) and she snapped back. I thought I gave her whip lash. She seems fine although I wanted to throw up. My sister tried to make me feel better by telling me stories about how my neice fell off her back while she was giving her a piggy back at 2 years old. I am just so worried and now I'm convinced she's not turning her head to the left.

Well, not as a mom, but I was playing catch with my friend's 2 year old. We were using an inflatable beach ball. My aim is terrible and I hit him in the forehead and he fell backward, landing on his behind. I am so glad it was just a beach ball. So moms. do not let me play catch with your kid and if you do, nothing firmer than a beach ball! For some reason, that kid still likes me.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
I think everyone has. If it makes you feel better, call your ped to have her looked at today.
Let's see what I've done to make you feel better.....
I dropped Sarah the last 6 inches into the PNP basinette the first day we got her home. Was convinced I'd killed her b/c she slept through the whole thing even with me trying to wake her up.
Hit both kids heads on the car door frame countless times.
DH cracked the top of Andy's head on the door frame to his room when he was few months old. DH was playing with him and lifting him high while walking out of the room and forgot he was under the frame.
Andy fell while I was making breakfast last week and was bleeding badly from the mouth. We have to wait and see if the tooth turns color. If so the nerve was damaged and he'll loose the tooth. I'm actually pretty upset about this still.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
my dh banged my dd's head against his knee.
Christmas-- dd was lying on floor playine with an elmo toy of my nephews and i was on floor with her and looked away and her hand grabbed the toy and it fell on her.
then the same day. i was handing my sister the apple sauce jar and banged it into her head.. I cried more than my dd, and then everyone else laughed at me and called me a bad mom, which made me cry even harder. (family can be mean)..
Your dd will be okay.. things happen.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
Ummm... let's see... how about the time I over fed her and she threw up every where in her crib and almost choked to death on her own vomit? Or the time I dropped her off at day care and she had a 102 fever and I didn't notice? Or the time I went into the bathroom for just a sec and told my SIL to watch her and she fell down a flight of uncarpeted hardwood stairs? Or the time I forgot to lock the screen door and she fell backwards through the door, down two cement steps and landed in the driveway?
So yes, there is MANY times I have felt like a bad Mommy
You can't beat yourself up- they are very resilent creatures. In all of the instances above, my DD ended up just fine.

Yes. It part of being a mommy.
Heres my list of terrible things lol.
I closed the fridge on DS hand by accident.
I hit his head while taking him out the car.
I was watching a horror movie one time when he was a few weeks old and he had fallen asleep in my arms. Well there was this really scary part that made me scream and jump and I almost dropped him. He woke up screaming his little head off.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
yes i have. it was the most horrible thing that has ever happened to me and i still get sick over it. I lost my 5 year old at the orlando international airport for about 15 minutes. when i found him he was in an empty terminal plastered to the window crying his eyes out saying please don't leave me mommy! he was watching a plane fly out of the terminal. i turned my back for 2 seconds to grab my 2 year old and my 5 year old was gone. It made me feel like the worst mommy EVER. and i am the type to watch over my kids like a hawk and i still can't believe this happened to me.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
My son already had stickes on his face at 18 months. He fell right in front of me.
Tonight he fell off a chair and hit his lip right in front on me.
When he was a baby, he rolled right off the bed.
That all sounds so terrible. I swear he's safe in my hands but these things happen and fast. I'm sure DC is fine. Don't beat yourself up - it's not terrible.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
Yup - several times a week. Everything from losing my temper to not sewing a patch on a karate uniform.
On a brighter note, I do many more things that make me feel like a terrific mom.
A "bad" mom doesn't care about the whiplash & definitely doesn't feel sick from it. Forgive yourself.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
When Jack was a month old and I was incredibly sleep deprived I let him fall asleep on my chest and then I fell asleep. About 3 hours later my DH came in and Jack was just about to fall out of my arms onto the floor. I don't know what would have happened if he didn't come in at that point.
And just this weekend after their walk I allowed them to walk up the driveway and Kevin went boom and fell and hit is head. I felt horrible.
It happens a lot so don't let it get you down. We are not perfect.

Yep!!!
The past 2 nights feeling helpless not knowing how else to possibly help DS and his teething.
The time back in Nov. where he was running a fever, had a runny nose and DH and I thought it was teething. Took him to the Dr. and turned out it was an ear infection

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
Things like this have happened to all of us. DS could not have been more than a few weeks old when he fell alseep on him and I must of fallen alseep on the couch. When I got up, DS was on the floor. I most of opened my arms and he must of slipped right out of my arms and onto the tile floor.

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
He rolled off the couch when he was a baby onto the floor.
He jumped out of the crib onto his hardwood floor...head first.
He fell and cut his lip right before I went on vacation without him.
Just recently, he CRACKED his head on the door and got a huge lump.
It happens....

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
Lets see
Mikayla fell off her changing table when I turned around to shoo my dog out of the room (she was fine but I was a mess)
She also fell off a low lying rock while we were doing a photo shoot at the park...she had a scrape on her nose and chin
these things happen, kids are very resilient (sp)

Re: Have you ever done anything that has made you feel like a terrible mommy?
Yesterday.
I put Logan on the bed with his flash cards and went into the bathroom to do something. When I came back he was rolling off the bed.
I caught him, but I was so p!ssed at myself for not realizing that he could roll that quickly.
