My friend Dawn and I did in a Levi's outlet store, the woman passed out at a register, they put her in a chair and she had no pulse slumped over. It was scary saying those words your trained , "you call 911 she is in cardiac arrest". We got her to the ground and were getting ready to do CPR when Dawn found a weak pulse.

We had to wait for EMS to get there and leave with her since Dawn used her new jeans as a pillow.

I've called 911 for a few things. There was also a time recently when DH and I went to the movies and were waiting on line to enter and a woman a few feet in front of me just went down. The people all around (even those with her) literally just stared and crowded over her. I yelled over to the movie attendant, told her what happened and to call 911. When the paramedics came, they determined she was ok thankfully.

I was a volunteer EMT for a few years and I also work in the hospital as a respiratory therapist. So I have resuscitated more people then I can count, but it's funny- I never really thinking of it as saving a life or being heroic. It's just doing my job Chat Icon

I have been a Paramedic for 5.5yrs, an EMT- for 2 yrs before that and I worked in an ER for 2 yrs before that......so yea I have done some "saving", but the sad truth is you do more "trying to save, and fail" the you do saving. It's sad, but you live for the ones you can help. On the worst days I remember what each of the 3 babies I delivered looked like and that helps.
