Having a dinner party and need help!

We are having about 6 friends over on Friday night for dinner and drinks. I want to do something out of the norm for summer (i.e. no bbq). I was thinking of making homemade pizzas...What type of pizzas should I make and how many? I was thinking 4??
1. Regular cheese pizza (fresh mozz w/basil)
2. All meat, crumbled sausage, pepperoni...cheese
3. Pesto pizza (maybe with just some grated parmasean) and heirloom tomotoes (should I add glazed onions?)
4. Veggie pizza-what veggies do most people universally like?

Also, what should I do for appetizers and a side dish???

Home-made pizza sounds yummy!

Maybe you can set it up so that everyone makes their own. We've actually grilled pizza before. We set up a topping station (we grilled veggies, put out cheeses, meats, sauces, etc...) and we cooked the dough on the grill and people were able to customize their own pizzas with their own toppings. It's super quick and easy and engaging.

We paired it all with some pasta salad and a regular salad and it was filling and a hit.

I'd do quick, simple appetizers - maybe an antipasto platter with some Italian meats and cheeses, olives, etc.

We do pizza sometimes for friends and it's always a big hit.

I'd do 2 pizza, salads and garlic knots Chat Icon

This pizza is AWESOME and a new fave: pizza with prosciutto, goat cheese and roasted tomatoes

Then you can do a veggie one for anyone who doesn't like meat.

I love a big caesar salad with homemade dressing and homemade croutons and maybe a lighter salad with mixed greens, dried cranberries, candied walnuts in a raspberry vinaigrette.

OH and ice cream sundaes or banana splits for dessert with homemade hot fudge. Everyone will feel like a kid again Chat Icon

haha right?? Sometimes I like to do a party with all kid-themed food because it's just plain YUMMY and not complicated!

I've done baked chicken fingers, homemade french fries & creamy macaroni and cheese for dinner with simple vanilla cupcakes with rich chocolate buttercream frosting on top and some yummy sprinkle cookies. Adults LOVE this stuff too!

Thanks for all the replies!! For an app. I am going to do melon wrapped prosciotto, grilled sausage, and some veggies and dip.

-What about a Ceasar Salad??

My friends like to drink...a lot, so we are also having Pina Coladas!!!

I have never heard of grilling a pizza, sounds very interesting!
