Having a hard time feeding DS who is 9 months
My DS will hardly eat pureed food anymore....he wantas the real stuff
We had chicken last last....and the only way he ate it is if I put tiny peices on his highchair tray. Is this normal at this age?
What other foods can I give him that he can feed himself with? Oh, and he only has 5 teeth.
TIA

DS is 9 months and is the same way!
He WILL eat the baby food but wants table food more.
We give him
-soft broccolli -soft pasta -peas -beans -small pieces of chicken
Basically everything we eat just small pieces

Re: Having a hard time feeding DS who is 9 months
My DH stopped eating baby food around 8 or 9 months. I just cut up everything small and put it on their trays. The only thing they eat off a spoon is oatmeal, yogurt, and applesauce.

Oh wow.... Can you give me an example of what she ate for breakfast and dinner? I am not a huge fan of the kitchen and just started preparing meals for DH and I, so any advice given is greatly appreciated

Re: Having a hard time feeding DS who is 9 months
yup...DD is 9 months and it's getting harder to feed her. She has 7 teeth, so she eats a lot of table food. Her new fav is pasta (i cute up whatever i am making) with sauce and parm cheese! I also find that she likes "real" food - like a baked sweet potato that i mash for her, etc. We tried giving her pureed green beans last night and she took one spoonful and made a horrible face and wouldn't eat any more of it. I think at this point they are ready to eat real food anyway - just makes it a little more challenging when deciding what to feed them

DS is the same way. We are finishing up any babyfood we have. He only wants table food now. He won't eat baby food. He'll eat oatmeal, soup & yogurt from a spoon.
We give him: -cold cuts (turkey, ham) -cheese -chicken -pasta -potatoes (fries) -veggies -waffles -pancakes
and pretty much everything we eat

Does your DS like yogurt? DD gets this for either breakfast or lunch every single day - she loves it! I put the baby cereal in it to thicken it. She also likes the jarred oatmeal w/ fruit, her favortie is rolled oats & apples. I am also going to start with pancakes and waffles soon, too. Also - every time either me, my mom, or MIL makes soup, we give her that too - she loves it! Even ate lentil soup last week and devoured every drop!

it was a long time ago but I know she loved (and still does) pancakes, waffles, eggs with cheese (not sure if 9 month olds can have eggs so check with the ped)
for lunch - cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, tons of fruits and veggies

Sean is the same way recently - He's 8 months, but only has his 2 bottom teeth !! -
I give him cheerios, pancakes, cheese, pasta,
He still eats the baby food, but isn't thrilled w/ it -
I'm having a hard time figuring out what I can give him w/ only 2 teeth !!
I tried a mashed up meatball the other day, he was NOT happy w/ that - He doesn't like pastina either - What kind of Italian is this kid anyway ????

Chloe hated pastina and I found it waaay too messy. She does love ditalini and the little shells though.
Her favorite foods right now are cheese and green beans.

Dylan is 9 months also and getting bored with baby food. I've given him grilled cheese, yogurt, chicken soup and bits of whatever we eat. I want to try waffles, pancakes and eggs. I heard something about just giving them egg yolks but I have to ask the dr. He has 4 teeth and a bunch coming in.

Re: Having a hard time feeding DS who is 9 months
I have a food thread I will bump for you. My kids were having a mixture of table food and purees at that time. Don't be scared to make your own purees and make them thick. Then just put piles on his tray-messy but my kids love it. They have mashed potatoes, butternut squash, etc
