Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

There is a VERY GOOD chance that I'll at least be IN the hospital for my birthday since due date is 2 days before.

If I get to choose an induction date, I'm wondering if giving birth on my b-day is a good thing or a bad thing

Really doesn't matter to me one way or another.

I'm due 3 days before my father's birthday and I know he's hoping I have the baby on his birthday.

There's a possibility my babies could be born on my b-day. I don't really care one way or the other.

Personally, I would want baby to have her own birthday.
Ryan was born the day before DH's birthday and I was glad it wasn't on his birthday.
But if it happened that way then it was meant to be!

My bday is 3 days before my due date so I've thought about this from the beginning. If possible, I would avoid having the baby on my bday because I'd like her to have her own day. In my mind, if she is born on my bday, I will basically give up my bday because I never want to take away from her day. But...my mom shared her birthday with her father (and later with her SIL--my dad's sister). She says if you always share a bday, it's all you know and it's no big deal. She thinks it would be harder on me to share a bday when I never have before. (but she's my baby, so I wouldn't care)

My bday is 5 days before my due date. I wouldn't mind sharing with him, but I would want him to have his very own special day

My sister and father share the same birthday. My sister has hated it her whole life. She felt like she never has a day to herself.

DH and SIL are 2 days apart and DH has felt similar. He always had to celebrate his birthday with her.

If I could choose, I would choose to not have the baby on my birthday.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

I am not sure about on your birthday, but I just wanted to share about me and my mom.

My mom's birthday is Dec 10th. She said that when she was little, she always used to HATE the 11th, bc she had to wait a whole year for her birthday to come around. Well, I was born on December 11th. She said at first she was disappointed, but quickly got over it bc it is two days of celebrating, and we both look forward to our birthdays coming together.

We do a countdown once it hits December. We'll call each other up and announce "10 more days till my BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!"

While you have a chance that you might have a birthday on the same day, it isn't so bad, you can celebrate extra hard together. Chat Icon Chat Icon

On a side note, DH's and his neice are born the same day, and each one celebrates in their own way, it doesn't take away from each other at all.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

My SIL had DD on her b-day. The only "downside" is that she always has to celebrate the way DD wants, rather than doing a grown up dinner or cake.

I share a bday with my dad so that's all I'm used to....but if you have a choice, give them their own day Chat Icon

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

I think if it's a day or two apart, it doesn't make much of a difference. I think it's nice if my child was born on my Bday.

On the other hand, growing up I depsised it b/c my brother has the same bday as me. And my sis is the same week so we all always had the same parties, etc.

So I wouldn't like it if my child shared anyone's bday other than my own or my DH's. But whatever will happen will happen.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

my c-section has to be around my grandmas bday but Im asking them not to allow it on her birthday since she is the type where her bday is celebrated the whole month and doesnt care who else bday is around hers.My other DD is around her bday and last year for her 1st bday she went away and made it about her so the last thing I need is this DD on her bday..
If it was anyone elsed bday I dont think Id care and if it was my bday Id feel honored to share is with one of my children..

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

DD was due 5 days b4 my bday. My water broke the day after my bday & she was born the next day. I really wanted her to have her own special day.

This year we had her party on my bday (b/c that is how the weekend fell) & everyone was wishing us both happy bday, I don't know, I just think it would be nice to each have our own days.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

i posted earlier if I could choose the day I'd choose her to be born on my brother's bday

Personally I'm 2 days after my uncle and it was always a 'thing'

Well Uncle Rod is the 18 then later is you on the 20th

it did actually annoy me

Still if I can, I'd give her her own bday of 8/28 so she'd be in between me 8/20 and my brother 9/6

Doesn't bother me. DD ws born on my dads birthday and he loves it. I always joke that no one will ever be able to top my birthday present to him last year.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

I was born on my dad's birthday. It was great while I was younger, but as I got older I always felt like I had to spend the day with him. It of course wasn't bad to spend the day with him, but in my teens and on, I wanted to be out celebrating with my friends and always felt guilty that I HAD to be with my father to share the day.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

One of my sister and I have the same birthday (different year!). So for 11 years it was MY day. Then we shared. It was OK but I like it when it was my day and my cake with just my name.

My other sister has the same birthday as my uncle. But we did not see each often.

I would prefer for DC to not share a birthday is avoidable.

Coming from a twin perspective, I would have the baby on a different day. Down the line I may combine parties, but the day will always be theirs.

There is a possibility of our baby being born on DH birthday. It doesn't really bother me. My DH thinks that would be awesome!!

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

well, if your due date is only 2 days before your bday, your not going to be induced because your 2 days late, so i wouldn't worry about that.

I don't htink its a yay or nay question, it just kind of happens. My 2 nieces are born on the same day, which also happens to be my nana's bday and my BIL's bday. My sister and my uncle share a bday as do my other sister and my cousin and my other sister and my papa.

Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

My EDD is one day after DH's birthday-- which also happens to be 3 days after MIL's birthday.

I mean, it's nice to have your birthday to yourself, but at the end of the day (no pun intended), not sure it really matters.

Hospital food as my bday dinner-- well, that I wouldn't like. But, the drugs would be ok!! Chat Icon
