hcg test - nervous
Hi, I went for my first pre-natal visit today. He did not do an internal, but took blood to test for HCG levels and speculated that I was about 6 weeks. Then, if the levels are ok, I will go for a sono next week. I don't know why, I'm just nervous about the outcome of this test. Is it completely horrible if the levels are low? He says mine should be at least 1,000. What does this test exactly mean? Now I have to wait until Fri to be stressed about this!!
PS - does my being nervous when he did the blood affect the results or is it "it is what it is".

Re: hcg test - nervous
Try not to stress too much b/c there's nothing you can do at this point.
The blood test measeures your hcg levels (a hormone produced in the beginning of pg). The actual # is not that important by itself. A better indicator is if the levels double or increase every 2-3 days. Even if you do get a low #, as long as it increases the next time they check it, your fine.
Do a search & you'll find more info. And congrats on the bfp
