Heat rash? How long to go away?

DS woke up on Sunday with a ton of little red bumps down his entire back and chest, around the back of his ears and neck and a little on the sides of his face. Everyone is telling me it looks like heat rash. I put him to bed with no shirt on and it looks slightly better today.

How long does heat rash usually last? I'm debating on taking him to the doctor, but don't know if its necessary. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it.

Baby powder!

Joey had it bad as an infant and probably lasted a few weeks, it was all over his face too, they put him on steroid cream and I swear it made it worse, so I stuck with baby powder and if he needed lotion used California baby. cotton shirts only, not tight fighting

Our ped told us to bathe DD in just plain water, no soap, several days a week. He said just letting her sit in the water and soak it up would help the heat rash. I was skeptical, but it really did work and it cleared up in just a few days. This week is record 100+ degree weather here (I'm OOS) and she's still doing pretty well with her water baths.

thanks girls, it looks even better today. I wasn't sure if bathing was ok so I gave him a sponge bath last night, good to know it is, tonight I will give him one, but in plain water!
