Re: Hello and help with a gassy newborn
Technically, yes..but its not really recommended. Best to do for a fussy gassy baby - switch formula to gentlease. It has partially broken down proteins and reduced lactose - both which help combat gas and fussiness. Most babies have issues with gas at this age b/c of the transient lactose sensitivity due to immature gut. Gentlease is still similar to breastmilk in composition. It works fantastically!!! And is cheaper than buying formula and mylicon. Mylicon doesn't always work either...it has about a 50/50 success rate.

Re: Hello and help with a gassy newborn
First CONGRATULATIONS!
For gas try:
-Mylicon drops -Gripe water -Fequent burps during and after feeding - Massage - Rub his stomach in a clockwise motion, 15 times. Bend baby`s legs to his stomach, count to 15. You can repeat this few times a day. (this really worked for DD, she was a VERY gassy baby) -"Bicycle legs" works really well too -Football hold -Try not to eat anything that can cause gas like vegetables, tomato sauce (pizza) and so on... (just first few weeks) - Warm bath is also very good (when he is ready ) just make sure his tummy is covered with warm water and when you take him out put socks on him asa you can.

Re: Hello and help with a gassy newborn
Congratulations!!!
My DD was very gassy/constipated as well. She uses Dr. Browns bottles, is on Enfamil Gentlease (which worked wonders). We have also used mylicon drops, an ounce of prune juice in 2 bottles a day (which caused very loose bowel movement) and pumping her legs as well as burping her often. We currently only use the gentlease in dr browns bottles and that's all we need to do since starting the gentlease.

Congrats!!!
To make him go I would hold his legs and move it as if he is riding a bike.
this is what I did...Frankie was so gassy...did you try Mylicon?

Congrats!!!
To make him go I would hold his legs and move it as if he is riding a bike. Also, a little warm with just a bit of natural brown sugar mixed together should help him.
I agree with this...
I also used some old Italian remedies... boil fennel seed and give him the water to drink (when it cools of course) It always worked for my son....
Another old remedy... heat a ceramic plate and cover it with towels and gently push on his belly.

Re: Hello and help with a gassy newborn
thanks for your suggestions everyone.
as of today, I stopped eating dairy products to get the lactose out of my breast milk...if that doesn't work I'll look in to switching the formula to the Gentlease.
we are also using mylicon drops in every feeding..just two little droplets.
I do the massage and the bicycle kicks. I guess it's just one of those "this too shall pass" things.
thanks again for your help and suggestions. this page is NOTEBOOKED and good luck to my fellow moms of gassy kids.

We switched to Dr. Browns bottles and Enfamil Gentlease. Both helped, though it turned out DS does have reflux so we started him on Zantac.
Good luck!
exact situation here. DS had reflux he was on zantac, and the dr. brown and genteease made things so much better
