Help! 1st Birthday Party Planning help PLEASE!

I am so stuck!
I have never planned a party before and I want to pull this off right.

I rented a room to hold the party...but now what?

I decided to just do coffee & cake to keep the costs low. Do I need more? What about games? Goody bags?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated and I would love to see pics or hear stores from your party. Thanks!!

Re: Help! 1st Birthday Party Planning help PLEASE!

Do you have a theme????

If you wanted to serve food you could always do heros and salads- that seems to be cheap...

Where do you live??

I love create-a-cake in pt jeff, they do some great work, its really yum and prices arent too bad...

I used b-day express for alot of things, I also try and hit party hardy (sometimes you can get a steal)

There is a paper outlet in Riverhead, although I dont think you save that much, if at all....

How old are the ages of the children???

What month will it be in???

Give me some more info girl and I can help you outChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Help! 1st Birthday Party Planning help PLEASE!

The cake will probably be made my DH's aunt (if not, BJ's)

I will get the stuff from the Paper Outlet in Riverhead. They have this theme and right now 25% off. Plus, I am going to fill-in with a lot of solid purple instead of all printed goods.

Mostly adults at this party. Right now, it's more like a ratio of 1 kid to 4 adults. Youngest kid (besides Leah) is about 4, the oldest 18 (and up).

The party is Sunday, Dec 2nd (her actual b-day Chat Icon )

Also a cotton candy machine is always a big hit with adults and children...

I know a place that rents them for 70, includes the candy and sticks- the rental is for 2-3 days, you work the machine itself (its sooo simple)

Re: Help! 1st Birthday Party Planning help PLEASE!

People make them online- but you could totally do it yourself ( I wanted to for DS b-day, but ended up not)

Ive seen them used as centerpieces and then somehow people attach the balloons in the center...

Bubbles are always great....

As well as a pull sting pinata

Re: Help! 1st Birthday Party Planning help PLEASE!

Do I need to do anything for the adults, or will they "entertain themselves"?

I did the cotton candy thing, and that entertained them Chat Icon

Other than that, even when you try to get people to participate- sometimes it dosent work... People are too busy catching up with family and friends they havent seen in awhile, and/or just chit chatting...

Re: Help! 1st Birthday Party Planning help PLEASE!

That's true. There is a good mix of adults (some from further away) so maybe I shouldn't worry about them too much Chat Icon
