Help a first time mommy... what items were a must have for your newborn?
Help a first time mommy... what items were a must-have for your newborn? vs. what items did you feel were a waste of money?
I also plan to breastfeed, so please give advice on that too! I don't want to overlook or forget anything for his arrival, and am preparing as much as possible!
Thanks!!!!

Help a first time mommy... what items were a must have for your newborn?
Rock N Play, swing, good nursing pillow, lanolin, diapers, aquaphor, onesies, soft easy on/off sleepers, recieving blankets, nursing pads, a good breast pump, breast milk storage bags, bottles, baby bath, baby wash, burp cloths.
Best avice on breastfeeding is use your resources and just nurse baby on demand. Don't worry about a clock or overfeeding just nurse. The more you nurse the better you will build your supply. If you struggle thats ok too, we all did! BF is a skill and that takes time for you and LO to learn. Call your insurance company about a free breast pump and see if you can get a visit with a lactation consultant. Make sure your hospital has LC on staff. Most of all trust your instincts and don't google everything. You will make yourself CRAZY!!

Re: Help a first time mommy... what items were a must have for your newborn?
Musts on my list:
Pack and Play; Swing; Diapers; Wipes; A&D; Aquaphor; Desitin; Baby Body Wash; "wee wee pads"; onesies; footed pajamas; first aid/grooming kit; bottles that include a sterilizer; booster seat/high chair that attaches to a regular chair; Baby clothes hangers - I am sure there is more but I am forgetting
Things that I did not need:
Bassinet (used the Pack and Play); Diaper Genie (I call him my husband); Baby bathtub (used a bath support bather); all the baby lotion I received (I ended up using most of it); bibs (most were cloth and got really gross); baby blankets (super cute, but just got too many)
Didn't breastfeed so I'm no help in that department
Good luck momma!

Help a first time mommy... what items were a must have for your newborn?
Rock n play, bottles, breast pump, pjs, onesies, diapers, wipes, diaper cream, boppy (use it to lay baby next to me while I'm on the couch and also for tummy time), lanolin for nipples, car seat, snap n go stroller, Aden and anais easy swaddle blanket, rectal thermometer, bathtub, baby wash, diaper genie, burp cloths (cheap cloth diapers work well), shower cap style cover for car seat, gripe water, infant gas drops.
Don't bother with strap covers or inserts for the car seat. They aren't safe unless they came with the seat.
Barely used my pack n play.

Re: Help a first time mommy... what items were a must have for your newborn?
My goodness! Must haves are not so many... A few clothes (just an outfit or 2 in newborn: you never know how big they will be)... Be practical & do sleep n plays A crib... These take a while to get delivered & set up A place for baby to sleep (I used the bassinet on my pack n play) Car seat Early stroller (I have snap n go) Some diapers (just a few: size newborn) Diaper cream (I like triple paste)
You can register for more stuff... Much of it, you won't use & you won't need it in the beginning.
I like my: Bouncer (at 4 mo) Exersaucer (4 months) Play mat (2 mo) Infant to toddler rocker chair Citi mini (or whatever small stroller) Ergo & baby bjjorn: I love them both! Born free bottles for formula & pumped milk: I love this brand
Honestly, after baby 2 & not using a lot, I have slimmed down drastically for baby 3.

Wee wee pads like for dogs? What/how do you use the wee wee pads? Is it for the mattress/changing pad so they don't leak through? Sorry, dumb question.. can you tell I'm new at this? LOL

Yes those are chucks (chux). I use them on the changing table otherwise i'd be going through like 10 changing pads a day between the poopsplosions and peeing during diaper changes.
