HELP!!! Anyone go to different doctors?? And or get different measurements!!!!????

In different practices that is??

I go to Dr B. I have about 2 to 3 more weeks left with him. he told me to start looking into an OBGYN.... so today i had an appt with one.

Last wed at Dr B.... I was measuring 8w3d and due july 3rd. Which is RIGHT on target from my O date... like literally to the day on target!
I go to the new dr at the new place and I'm measuring 8w0d.... and due like july 11... which is so not on target. And it's not only off target but it's BEHIND my last measurement as of last wed. I should be 9w2d today!!!!

I'm thinking it's just due to different machines. But I'm really confused.

Luckily I have a Dr B appt tomorrow.... so i go back to the same machine as last week... and I will ask dr b about it.

Anyone else have this happen???

ETA: has this not happened to anyone else??? The lack of responses is making me even more nervous now......

My ultsasound tech friend told me that its the person doing the measuring. If they extend the line while measuring even a little tiny bit it can change your due date.

each time it was the dr doing the measuring.
At this rate... I'm going backwards!!!
At first the difference was even larger. I told him my due date should be july 3rd... he remeasured and came up 2 days shorter than he did the first time around. But that's still way off.

Last wed = 8w3d
today = 8w0d

Also, his machine wasn't as clear as the one from last week at Dr B. office.

Ahh... now I'm extra anxious to see dr b tomorrow!!!!

It doesnt matter if its a tech or a dr. If they extend the line too far the baby is going to measure ahead and if they dont extend it enough the baby is going to measure behind. Does that make sense? I wouldnt get stressed out over a 3 day diff is what Im trying to sayChat Icon

I understand what you are saying.

it's not a 3 day difference ... it's like a 9 day difference. I should be 9w2d today... instead his machine says 8w0d. LAST WED (a week ago) I was 8w3d.

thankfully... i have a dr b appt tomorrow. it's the only reason I didn't harp much on it at today's appt. I knew I was going to see dr b tomorrow and go back to the same machine I've been using. AND dr b's measurements match EXACTLY according to my O date. Dr B HAS to be the one who's right!

So annoying! I wouldn't stress too much since you are going to Dr. B tomorrow. I do agree it's sort of odd that you measured a week behind, but there could be so may real reasons for the measurement difference (i.e. two different people, two different machines, etc).

Did the doctor today have any concern about the discrepancy? If not I really wouldn't stress as long as the little one's heart was beating and the doctor thought he/she looked good the difference is probably due to technology.

The dr didn't seem to have any concern. But I also didn't harp on it too much either.

there is NO WAY I am measuring what the new dr came up with. It's not possible. I KNOW exactly when I ovulated.... and he's off by 9 days.... not only do I know when I ovulated but we didn't Chat Icon at the time for it to be 9 days behind... AND I got a BFP at 11/12 DPO... if I'm 9 days behind that would be 2/3 DPO which wouldn't be possible.
Again though, I didn't make a big deal about it.

The baby's heartbeat was good.... and the baby also changed positioning... like a big change... so the baby is moving which is supposed to be a good sign of a healthy and active baby.

I notice that the pic from the new dr is not at all as clear, nor is it zoomed in as much... and on the outer part of where one of the x's are... you can see there is some baby blur there. I'm really praying that's what it will all boil down to.

As the time goes on though.. I'm getting more and more nervous about this. I just can't wait to go to my old dr appt tomorrow!!!! I can't wait to have him measure me on the machine i've been measured on all along... the same machine where i am measuring exactly to date!!!!

so frustrating!!!

ETA: Dr B the old dr... was def a little more thorough with his looking at the sono. he not only zoomed in more.. but he studies it more and checked the umbilical cord as well.

I did like the new dr too... just not this whole measuring bit!

are you seeing both an ob and dr, b at the same time Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i might overlap mine a bit too, thats why i ask.

as for the measurements, it does have to do with the line and the person doing the measuring, but i can see why you would be concerned since its pretty far off from your other u/s. good luck at dr. Bs tomorrow!

yes I am.

Dr B told me to start looking at OB's. And to make an appt for like 2 weeks. I had an appt set up in a week. So I technically had 2 appts this week... but as the usual OB's go they don't see you again until week 12.... so I just went for the first appt.... and then I won't be seeing him again for another 4 weeks... at which point I'll be done with Dr B. so it only overlapped for the first appt.

This new dr thinks i'll be 12 weeks for my next appt... but I will be 13 weeks... I know he is wrong about the measuring. Dr B has to be the one that's right. his measuring matches up PERFECTLY. I wish i could go to his office RIGHT NOW!!!!

What's really weird about the measuring today is that it's not even like just behind where it should be today... but it's behind from LAST weeks measuring. As if the baby is SHRINKING... not even just not growing right. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
