Help! Anyone's DC lose interest in the bottle after solids were introduced?

DD has been getting solids for about a month now. She is loving everything we give her. We had this nice little routine going on for the last few weeks:
-7 oz. bottle after waking up
-Cereal+fruit+bottle (7 oz., minus what goes into the cereal) for breakfast
-Veggie+Cereal+bottle (same as breakfast) for lunch
-7 oz. bottle before bed
Total: ~28 oz. of formula

However, in the last few days/week, DD seems to be losing interest in the bottle. It has become more and more difficult to get her to drink her bottles - she either plays with or just seems to be interested in everything OTHER than the bottle!

I even decided to switch the above routine to 3 bottles a day (with a little bit more at each feeding) so there was more time in between, but that doesn't seem to be working. Today she had a total of about 21 oz. and that was a STRUGGLE (no such thing as laying back and enjoying a bottle anymore!).

Any advice or BTDT stories?? Thanks!

Yep..My son did and the Dr said its a phase and usually just coincides with the ssolid introduction but sdoesnt always have to do with it. Noah will sometimes eat 4 bottles, sometimes like you described hardly any of his...Give it a few weeks. I bet in a week or so, it will change again.

My DD is going through the same thing..we started solids just about a month ago & now it seems she would just rather hit the bottle w/ her hand or take a sip & then pull away.

She went from 35 oz. a day to about 24 or so.

I was going to mention it to the ped on Wed.

yep, my son the same thing. He will yell too if I try to force the bottle on him, he just wants to tap on it.

Yep.

DS much rather eat food than drink his bottle. I think it also gets worse when they are teething because it hurts their teeth too.

yup, DD does this with some of his bottles/feeding, he leaves the last ounce or so and plays with the bottle/nipple.

DS did this also, but then he got over it. Now he is starting it again because I have been starting REAL foods and he wants nothing to do with the bottle OR baby food!

She may be getting full from the cereal + the fruit/veggie with it at each feeding. I would break it up a little more. She probably isn't drinking the 7 oz. bottle b/c she is full.

This was DS's schedule at 6 months if it helps:
7:30 am: cereal & 4-5 oz. bottle
10:30 am: fruit & 4-5 oz. bottle
2:00 pm: 6-8 oz. bottle
5:00 pm: veggie & 4-5 oz. bottle
8:00 pm: 6-8 oz. bottle

How's she been doing now? Any better? You know I don't have this problem yet since DD doesn't like the spoon (but does like the food) Chat Icon
