Those who BF and introduced a bottle
Hi!
Back with more BF questions.... We are going to introduce the bottle this weekend to my DD who will be 1 month old!.... I will be home until Sept. so I plan on continuing to BF and letting my husband now participate with the feedings with the bottle (also to give my sore boobs a break!)... How often do you feed with the bottle? When is the best time to give the bottle when introducing it? How much should I pump out? And, how much do I feed the baby? Thanks!

I would pump as much as would come out. about 10-15 minutes and give your DC that breatmilk. And I would give it at a feeding. See how it goes. That's what I did. I think it's good to do it earlier b/c it gets them used to it.

Re: Those who BF and introduced a bottle
Hello! We introduced the bottle at 4 weeks...we used it maybe once a day (usually once every few days) in the beginning and more prior to my return to work...I found it was easier to have someone else give her the bottle because she was (and still is) resistant to taking it from me. I pumped after each feeding in the beginning and added an additional pumping session when the baby was napping or sleeping to build up a frozen supply. I began feeding 2 ounces and adding more if she finished the bottle and seemed hungry...Hope this helps!
