HELP!! Baby won't take bottle and I'm going back to work in 2 weeks!!
Hey girls...I have been EBF with a bottle here and there, and DD is now almost 11 weeks...in the last 3 weeks we have been trying to give her a bottle almost everyday and at first she took a few ounces over an hour..then it got less and less...and now she either screams when she sees the bottle, refuses to suck or just goes right to sleep with the bottle in her mouth...I have tried a few different nipples...playtex slow flow, dropins med flow and the ortho nipple(flattish one) and she just doesn't even want to bother sucking...I go back to work in 2 weeks...please give me some advice on how to get this baby to take a bottle...I'm so worried and don't know what we will do if she doesn't take it...any nipple recommendations or techniques, tricks...anything please..Thanks so much!

Someone I know told me about a bottle that turns into a sippy cup I think it's caled Nuby or something like that. She said its very close to a mother;s nipple, maybe you can try that one. GL!

Are you giving her the bottle? If not, are you in the room when she gets the bottle? Some babies won't take a bottle from their mom or if their mom is in the room. I don't give DS a bottle and he fusses if DH tries to give him a bottle and I'm in the room.
Is the bottle warmed up enough? Could there be an issue with the nipple flow? Have you tried different brands of bottles?
I hope you figure it out soon. I know it can be really frustrating.

Re: HELP!! Baby won't take bottle and I'm going back to work in 2 weeks!!
i know the stress all to well! atleast you are starting early!! we tried the weekend before i was supposed to go back to work! it was so stressful!
we tried 5 different bottles ( playtex, nuby, adiri, evenflow )and the bottle that saved our lives is called Breastflow!! they sell it at BRU.
it is crucial that your husband tries to feed her the bottle. try to do it right before your child gets hungry. it is best to try when they are calm. my dh just sat my dd on his lap facing the tv and gently put the bottle to her mouth and let her mouth it.... then try to point the nipple "up" not to the back of the throat..
just keep trying!! trust me! i never thought we would get her on a bottle!
you can consult with your ped. too! my ped told me that my dd might fast for 8 hours till i got home and then feed through the night- thank God that didnt happen! she also said try a sippy cup or a spoon..
anyhow, try the breastflow bottle!! it saved my life!

Every baby is different, but Eryk easily switched between boob and bornfree glass bottles (he used the state 2 nipple from about 1 month to now)
Definitely try out bottles that look more boob-ish

We used nuby sippy cups with silicone nipple and found that worked for us. Good Luck!
