Do you have any Oxyclean? We use that mixed with water to clean up spilled milk on the rug. It works pretty well. We are also buying a little steam cleaner for such messes. Walmart has one for $60 I think.

Use the Nature's Miracle if you have it. It gets the smell out of anything.
ETA: We bought the Bissel Little Green....I highly recommend it.
