Help- Grieved Taxes
We grieved our taxes. We received a bill from the company who grieved them for us. They are saying they saved us over $2000. I don't see the savings that they say they saved us. How do you figure out what your taxes would have been if you didn't win? I tried calling the assessors office, the phone just rings off the wall.

Help- Grieved Taxes
what township are you in - I can help for town of Huntington
but some general things - look at assessed value - see if the assessed value went down from last year's tax bill - that is what they are changing. They technically can save you money that you don't see if they lower your assessed value from last year but the tax percentage goes up
taxes = tax percentage * assessed value

Re: Help- Grieved Taxes
Grieving your taxes is a misnomer. You are grieving your assessment. ASSESSMENT X TAX RATE = TAXES.
Theyvshould have told you your previous assessment, the reduction, and the new assessment.
Take your old assessment and multiply by the tax rate. Then take the new assessment and do the same thing. The difference is your savings.

Re: Help- Grieved Taxes
when we grieved our taxes, the town denied it, then they went to small claims court and we won a $1000 reduction.
Shortly after we rec'd the letter from Mark lewis saying we won, we also rec'd a new tax bill from our town showing the lower price for that year.
