Help me. I need motivation

I need to start working out to lose weight. I have a dusty gym membership. Me and mornings don't work. I hate getting up and classes work better for me. My biggest problem is I'm gung ho about the thought of working out but when I get off the train I just want to go home and eat dinner.

Also, I suggest you try Crossfit. It is a class and not as scary as it may seem. Plus the workouts are intense, but short. Perfect for after a long day!!

Is Crossfit really good for beginners? I have seen a lot of articles about Crossfit being injury prone and far too much stress for even a well trained person.

OP, the biggest part of losing weight is diet. You will not lose a single pound unless you chnge your eating habits, even three hours workouts won't work. Start tracking what you eat, change you diet, then worry about exercise. You can use myfitnesspal.com, or do weight watchers. But you need to start with your food, then exercise for good weight loss.

Re: Help me. I need motivation

I agree with the ladies about diet first.

I have started limiting my carbs, and no longer engage in my "bagel" habit 4 days out of the week, and I lost 10 lbs immediately and my stomach is much flatter.

I have the same problem with going back out once I get home. Instead, I try to make it a goal to attend 2-3 classes a week instead. This way I have options and can stay in some days.

And the hardest part really IS just going back out. Once I'm in my car again and on my way, I'm totally fine.

As long as you go to a good gym, one where the trainer is certified in more than just Crossfit, the risk for injury is minimal. My coach makes each person do a few reps of each exercise before the WOD starts and if your form is incorrect on a difficult exercise you are not allowed to do it. He gives you an alternative exercise at your level. Safety is his first priority.

I do agree about diet though. Although in order to be truly healthy you must eat right, move right, sleep right, and minimize stress as much as possible. So, exercise is still an important factor. Weight loss shouldn't be the only goal. Optimal health and fitness should be the goal. Exercise can help you lose weight, but it also makes your body strong. That is the most important thing.

Can you find a place to workout during your work lunch breaks? Pilates and yoga won't get you too disheveled and might help you get things kickstarted.
