Help me with foods to pack for long plane ride with a 2 1/2 year old
And what is allowed on the planes?
We are flying NY to LA and then a 2 hour layover and then LA to Hawaii (all in all it will be a 13 hour day).
I was going to pack cereal bars, goldfish, but I wanted to pack yogurts and applesauce but they are all 4 oz. containers and I know the rule is 3 oz. Do you think fresh fruit in plastic bags in oK?
Also, can I bring sippy cups (I'm guessing empty) and I also know the smallest juice boxes I found were 4 oz. so I guess that a no no too and I'll just have to buy $5 juice or milk in the airport after we go through security.
Both flights have no meals so I'm trying to keep him full and occupied.
Any suggestions would be great...I am so excited to go to Hawaii but so dreading getting there!!
Thanks!

From my experience, you can bring anything when you have a baby with you! When DD was little and we flew with her we brought all kinds of snacks in baggies, jarred food, pumped breastmilk, bottles of water, etc and nothing was ever taken away. They may test some things but that's it.

I would HIGHLY suggest packing some Plum Organics baby food. I know it's baby food, but it's in a pouch that they can just sip. Completely mess-free, and they have some great flavors like peach-apricot and pumpkin banana!
Just a suggestion...I always have them in my diaper bag for a quick, healthy snack.

Re: Help me with foods to pack for long plane ride with a 2 1/2 year old
I just flew with DS last week and had a full bottle and full sippy with me. They didn't give me any problems. Both had just water and they didn't even question it. I also had a yogurt (4oz I believe) and they didn't even make me take it out of the bag... as long as I had the baby, they didn't really care b/c it was for him...
Now god forbid I walk through the scanner without taking his size 3 infant shoes off... I don't even think they are big enough to hide a weapon in!

I just flew with my DS (1yr) and had 4 the GoGosqueeze apple peach sauce and 3 Happy Baby pouches in my bag and they didnt even question me. I would definitely recommend bringing the pouches. I know Ive seen the GoGo squeeze applesauce pouches in target and stop and shop.

We are flying soon and I bought tons of the pouches from plum organics and earth's best for my son and even my 5 year old. Earth's best has yogurt pouches. I'm just packing tons of stuff in my diaper bag in ziplocs and if they want to confiscate it, no biggie.

I agree. When we flew with my then 17-month-old I took frozen homemade food in a carry-on, water bottles, a bottle with milk, jarred fruit, etc. If you search my name you should find a post about what the TSA allows for children. I contacted them before traveling and they responded.
