Help, my dog wont pee in the rain!

So its been raining all day here and my puppy is much better at holding it than I thought. We got one pee at 8:30 when it had stopped raining for a few minutes.

But weve been outside every half hour since noon and he wont pee because its raining. He just keeps trying to pull back towards the front door. He's been in his crate cause I cant trust him now to not pee on the carpet.

Any tricks to getting the dog to pee in the rain?

I already tried getting him to pee on paper in the garage with the door open. that was a no go.

This is sad, but I go out with an umbrella and hold it over him. We also bought him a little rain jacket from PETCO so he doesn't get as wet. If it is pouring out, he still won't go

My dog knows she is not going in til she makes.. I sware I think a few times she squatted just to please me but faked it!! funniest thing EVER!!

Same here. I have a couple of golf umbrellas, they're usually bigger than the regular kind and that seems to do the trick.

We put a coat on them but if it's really raining, they won't even go out the door. It's amazing how long they will hold their pee if it's raining outside. They eventually give in and go out. The problem is though, if we are home, we keep trying to get them to go out. If we are going out, if they don't go out, they go in the cage.

She will hold it as long as she can. When she was a pup I would stand out there with the umbrella until she went then give her a treat when she went.

I had tried the umbrella, but it was blowing a lot, so unless I woud have been lying on the ground he would have gotten wet anyway.

Eventually he went. HE had t ogo so bad by that point he peed in the middle of the sidewalk on the way to his pee spot.

Both of my dogs NEVER go in the rain. They hold it in and just wait it out LOL.

same here - she sees the rain and "puts the brakes on".

so, we hold an umbrella over her or if i'm at my mom's she has a little section of grass/dirt that is under a covered porch so that works well.

we also have sweatshirts and jackets for her.

i do sometimes get stern with her and yell that if she doesn't piddle, i use the code word and she knows i mean business, that she isn't going in!

Brody won't either. He won't even go out the door. When he was a puppy I so dreaded the rain because I would have to carry him out and cover him then he would not poop if it was wet out. I would have to put him under the deck where the ground was semi-dry. Now he will just whine and walk from front door to back door thinking maybe the weather differs on each side of the house!

Toby wont go in the rain & hates getting his paws wet & wont go if the grass is to long. Its terrible! Sandy on the other hand will go up to her ankles in rain she doesn't care.
