Help! My hair is too dark
I went to a new salon yesterday. I asked for a single process color to match my brown hair. I now look like I'm ready to audition for Mob Wives. My hair is basically black. I don't want to use a hair stripper because of the damage. What can I try? I read about using Head and Shoulders or a clarifying shampoo. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do?

Re: Help! My hair is too dark
Is the color permanent or semi permanent? If it's permanent you won't be able to do much to fade it- it has to grow out or you have to go back and let them lift it out with stripper.
If it's semi perm, you can use head and shoulders or other harsh shampoos like prell or even a clarifying shampoo. Wash it often to fade it out, but make sure to condition the heck out of it too because all that will dry the life out of your hair.

I don't even know what she used. I've never been to that salon before. They're closed today, so I can't even call to ask

Re: Help! My hair is too dark
From my experience, permanent or semi-permanent, all hair color fades out! So with time, this one will too!
I know how you feel though! I actually did it to myself a few weeks ago: decided to try a new color that I though was just a tiny bit darker than what I usually use to kill the grey, but it turned out to be almost jet black. My natural color is dark reddish brown and that's what I have always used and now... I look like Elvira Mistress of the Dark!

Re: Help! My hair is too dark
There are some color fading shampoos on the market, so you could try those out. It WILL fade, but shampooing will help to expedite the process.
I have never used one myself; I just know they exist.

Help! My hair is too dark
Keep washing, and if you're still not thrilled, go back, they can add some chocolately or chestnut highlights, and a toner.

Re: Help! My hair is too dark
This happened to me in August. The dye they used was permanent. Wash your hair a lot. Use a clarifying shampoo and head and shoulders. It took about a week to see a little improvement. I won't dye my hair my now because of that bad experience.
