when did you first take DC on a REAL vacation?

Not that we have the time or $ right now, but MAYBE in the spring when DD will be almost a year we'd like to get away. I'm just nervous about travelling with her. Is it more trouble than it's worth?

8 months-Cruise to Belize and Mexico
15 months-Captiva Island.

And we are going to Italy in March.

DD is 2.5 and I havent been brave enough to take her on a real vaca yet.

shes very routine oriented and gets cranky and upset when its switched up so I know she wouldnt deal well..

Key West - 4.5 months old

Will be going to Disney - 6 months old

And we are planning a trip to California and possibly Hawaii for when he will be about 8 months old.

We're taking him to Williamsburg for Thanksgiving and he will be 8 weeks I'm a little nervous!

15 months Beaches Turks and Caicos. I spent so much time worrying..how will she be on the plane, will she eat ok, will she sleep. I did all the worrying for nothing. Everything was fine and we had an awesome time!

DD was 6 months and we stayed in a hotel in Orlando for 4 nights while DH was at a conference. Then we went to his parents house in a 55+ community near Orlando for a week. It all went very well.

At 13.5 months we took DD to Orlando for a family vacation and stayed in a hotel the whole time. It also was pretty easy.

DD is a very good traveler and so far has been an angel on airplanes.

We stayed in suites both times so we could put her to bed and have a place that we could hang out. I confirmed with housekeeping at each hotel prior to the trip that they had a porta-crib for DD to sleep in, not a pack-n-play. I bring my own sheets and bumpers for the porta-crib.

We bought babyfood and diapers when we arrived. I found a company I could rent toys and other baby stuff from in Orlando, I think other big tourist spots have them too. Feel free to FM any questions.

First trip, two DC's 16 months old...

22 hours one way door to door to Hawaii

Not entirely our doing, we knew about it a very long time ago, way before we were married that it would be summer 2008. My IL's took everyone to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Preparing and packing two toddlers for a trip to Hawaii (first island we drove miles to just get extra diapers and milk) was like planning a military invasion.

After that, I think I could plan and manage a world tour

We took Kaila to Florida when she was 6 1/2 weeks old. We had a wedding and she had her shots.. Im so glad we did. It was March so it was nice to be able to put her in light clothes and not worry about bundling for a few days.

After that we went to VA, VT, MA, an Florida 3 more times. We would like to take her to Disney next year so we'll see.

13 Months to Lancaster/ Hershey, PA. It went even better than I had imagined. We all had a blast.

Santa Fe - 10 months old
Poconos - 11 months old
Pittsburg - 13 months old
Spain - 17 months old

Obviously I don't find traveling with a baby to be a hardship.

Chicago - 8 weeks (not really a 'real' vacation)

Las Vegas - 7 months

We are planning on going to Vegas again in the spring (my parents have a house there) and somewhere else next summer.

We haven't done any real vacations.

3 days in MA visiting family when she was 5 months old

5 days in NC visiting family when she was 7 months old.

2 days in MA this past summer visiting family and she was 16 months old.

We are thinking of a real vacation in the spring....

"real" as in involving planes?

Ella went to SF at 3 months (coincidentally, Erik did too). She's been back to CA a few times now.

We went to Europe with Ella at 16 months, and Aruba with the 2 of them (Ella was 2, Erik was 4 months).

minor trips to Lake Placid (at 3 weeks!), NC (5 months), DC, VT, etc but those were road trips.

Vacations are different with kids, but still worth it.

We took Robbie to the Catskills when he was almost a year old.

Noah's first "real" vacation was at the beginning of this year (he was 4). We went on a ski trip to Vermont.

Neither child has been in a plane... but then again my husband hasn't ever flown either - and he'll be 37 in a couple of week!

We haven't done any plane trips yet - I'm too scared.

We drove to Ocean City, MD when DD was 8 months and Point Pleasant, NJ when DD was 21 months and DS was 3 months.

We are planning to go to South Beach for a wedding in June. She will be 2 1/2 and he will be 1. I'm already stressing!!!

When Sarah was 5 months we went to South Florida to visit the ILs & DH's grandparents and then Georgia to see my dad.

This past summer we took both kids to Florida again to see DH's grandparents and the ILs.

Those are the only big trips, but we've done a few roadtrips too.

At 15 months we took DS to Disney...the whole experience was wonderful! Tiring but wonderful!

6 weeks we took Emma upstate to our cabin on a lake.

From there nothing stops us from going away. Emma is 6 and she's been to Disney 4 times

We took DD to Disney by car/train at 7 months. Her first plane ride was at 15 months.

Taking the kids to Disney in May. It is our first real vacation EVER with kids...

DD#1 will be 4
DD#2 will be 10 months

I'M TERRIFIED!!!!!!!
