Help needed - Is your toddler a "runner"?
I just cannot get Victoria to stop running away from me. Stop, freeze, come back - nothing seems to work. I am thinking of hanging stop signs around the house to help teach her the word (she seems to have selective hearing with this word). We have been working on this for a few months and nothing stops this kid in her tracks. It was hard chasing her while pg, but even harder when I am holding an infant carseat.
Anyone have any tips/advice?

Does she think its a game when you chase her?
Do you put her in time outs yet?
My DS is 18 mos, we started TOs around 13 mos. He doesn't like that word and it usually stops him from what he's doing. Granted he is "getting to that age" where his stubborness is showing more.
Have you tried reverse psycology on her - when she calls for you just walk past her?
Maybe she can help you carry the infant carrier - giving her a job might make her feel important
(not so much a btdt mom - my ds has selective hearing though).

Thanks for your response -
She doesn't think it's a game, she just loves to run. Now timeouts, they are a game to her. She goes into timeout willingly and laughs while there. She'll even go to timeout by herself when I let her know to stop being so rough (but not being bad) so that isn't helping. No treats and early bedtimes haven't worked yet either
She does help me carry the infant carrier with BIG smiles on her face - just not all the time
I get down to her level so we are eye to eye but on this topic - her eyes close or roll up in the head

Re: Help needed - Is your toddler a "runner"?
DD was a bad runner.. the ONLY thing that has worked- and of course she only does this in parking lots and other dangerous areas, is a good whoop on the behind..
I HATE HATE HATE any type of hitting- I am so not a hitter.. but me and my mom both tried time outs and assorted punishments for about a month w/ no success... after about a week with a spank on the behind she doesn't run anymore.
