Help needed from DENTAL experts

I know there are a couple of ladies on here that work fin the dental field so maybe you could help.Chat Icon

I am really stressed out because I noticed plaque on ds bottom teeth. He is 20 months old. I brush his teeth with a finger brush. His teeth also seem dull. I feel terrible about it. He never sleeps with a bottle, never drinks juice or eat sweet things.

I want to take him to a dentist but how do they possibly get a 20 month old to cooperate. I can't imagine what they could possible do at this age.

Thanks to any advice or info!!!

I am a dental assistant...in our office we recommend children start coming in at 2 yrs of age. We dont do much other than take a peek and "count teeth" - we try to make it fun for them. they get stickers and cool childrens toothbrushes when they leave. Its a very postive experience ...and some kids at this age will even cooperate and get a quick cleaning (which would remove the plaque he has built up). Id call and make an appt. It cant hurt. See what they say, at the very least let them take a look. good luck!!Chat Icon

I've done quick cleanings on 2 yrs old before. Most of the time it's game playing on Mommys lap. If you are concerned with the buildup I would def bring him in for a look see. Let us know how he does......
